History: (What If Karen Page Had Lived? (fb)) - During a battle between Bullseye and Daredevil, Karen Page was stabbed by one of Daredevil's billy clubs, thrown by Bullseye. Following her injury, Daredevil discovered that the entire battle was part of an elaborate plan by the suicidal Mysterio, who had gotten Daredevil's identity from the Kingpin.
(What If Karen Page Had Lived?) - As Daredevil kept a vigil at Karen Page's hospital bedside, he thought to himself how the problems in his life were always caused by the Kingpin. Angered by Karen's near-death, Daredevil confronted the Kingpin that night in his penthouse and asked why the Kingpin had aided Mysterio. When the Kingpin commented that it was just good business to get paid for something he would have paid someone else to do, Daredevil angrily tossed his billy club into the Kingpin's neck, cutting his throat. He then unmasked himself as the Kingpin died on his own penthouse floor. Following the Kingpin's death, Matt Murdock was outed as Daredevil due to a contingency plan by the Kingpin should he perish at Daredevil's hands. With Daredevil's identity public knowledge, Matt was soon arrested for the murder of Wilson Fisk and appeared in court to defend his case, where he was found guilty of the murder. During his prison term of fourty-four years, Matt never saw Karen Page again, but was frequently visited by his friend "Foggy" Nelson, as well as Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D., who often asked his opinion on other cases. For his help to S.H.I.E.L.D., Matt's sentence was shortened to fifteen years, after which he gave up his life as Daredevil.
Comments: Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Lark.
The divergent point for this reality was Daredevil II#5.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the bailiffs, Brubaker and Rucka,
were an homage to comic professionals, Ed Brubaker and Greg Rucka.
