GALACTIC DESTROYER
Real Name: Unrevealed
Identity/Class: Extradimensional (Microverse, patterned after a Parisian) technology user (armor-wearer)
Occupation: Warrior
Group Membership: Death Squad
Affiliations: Argon (while he was controlled by Karza), Baron Karza
Enemies: Micronauts, especially Marionette
Known Relatives: None
Aliases: None
Base of Operations: Currently unknown;
formerly the Microverse, particularly Argon's castle and
prior to that the Body Banks;
prior to that unknown
First Appearance: Micronauts I#36 (December, 1981)
Powers/Abilities:
Galactic Destroyer wore an air-tight suit and used a rocket pack that granted
him flight. The helmet provided limited protection and was shattered by a kick.
If he(?) was truly a replica of Galactic Defender, then the
air-tight suit would have come complete with an aerobionic helmet that kept "him" free from exposure to outside
pollution and infection, as well as protecting "him" from the
ravages of aging. "He" would also have wielded a pair of stun carbines, baton-like
rifles which fired energy blasts.
History:
(Micronauts I#36 (fb) - BTS) - Galactic Destroyer was created in the Body Banks
of the Microverse's Homeworld under the direction of the Baron-Karza-controlled
Argon. "He" was based on Galactic Defender of Paradise and was intended to serve
in the Death Squad warrior force.
(Micronauts I#36) - Galactic Destroyer accompanied the Death Squad to Earth in pursuit of the Micronauts. "He" ambushed Marionette while she worried about the embattled Arcturus Rann, choking the life from her and lifting her high into the air. Galactic Destroyer claimed first blood, but Mari simply flipped her legs up and incapacitated the Galactic Destroyer by shattering "his" helmet.
Comments: Adapted from the Mego Micronauts Galactic Defender toy by Bill Mantlo, Keith Giffen, and Danny Bulanadi.
You can get more info on the toys by searching the net, but here's one with a decent picture and some commentary: http://www.microforever.com/defender.htm
2.5 panels is all Galactic Destroyer got. Galactic Defender is pictured here. If Galactic Destroyer was a true replica, then it would have been a male, and its body may have mimicked the ancient state of Galactic Defender's such that exposure to air might have proven rapidly fatal. However, there's no reason to assume such a major weakness would have been built into Galactic Destroyer, and therefore there is no reason to believe that Galactic Destroyer perished during the assault. Where is he now?
