History: (Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. II#12 (fb)) - In a S.H.I.E.L.D. report dated February 3, 1986, Mai-Pan was assigned by General Suing of Communist China to assist the Yellow Claw.
(Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. II#10) - Mai-Pan had an agent of the Yellow Claw oversee the funeral of Timothy "Dum-Dum" Dugan, placing an empty casket in Dugan's stead. Mai-Pan then plotted the release of Madame Hydra.
(Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. II#12) - Mai-Pan infiltrated the Tyler Foundation for the Criminally Insane, and killed a doctor treating Madame Hydra with a fast-acting poison. She then set Madame Hydra free, teleporting her to an island in the South China Sea. There, she dispatched a band of fighters for Madame Hydra to prove herself against, then presented her to the Yellow Claw, who accepted her as his new daughter and heir. When agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. came to the island in search of Madame Hydra, the Yellow Claw struck them down, and they took Alexander Goodwin Pierce captive so that he could become Madame Hydra's lover.
(Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. II#13) - Mai-Pan presented Pierce to Madame Hydra and the Yellow Claw after he had been brainwashed to serve them. Later, she and the Yellow Claw informed Madame Hydra that S.H.I.E.L.D. was on its way to their base, and Madame Hydra set off to deal with them.
(Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. II#14) - Mai-Pan and the Claw met with Werner von Strucker, who presented Dum-Dum Dugan's body to them. When Madame Hydra was defeated by S.H.I.E.L.D., the Claw departed the island with Mai-Pan and Werner, leaving Dugan's body to be discovered by Fury, as this was somehow part of a larger plan against Fury.

We never did learn why the Yellow Claw wanted to give Dugan back to Fury.
The date of 1986 is most likely topical and can be interpreted to mean 4
years before this story. by
