History: (Marvel Super-Heroes III#4 (fb) - BTS) - Mindstorm started his career at HYDRA. Later he joined AIM as a scientist and then served with the Red Skull before going independent. With the knowledge he had gained over the years he invented a weapon and started one night a killing spree in NYC. His first victim was caught by S.H.I.E.L.D. and died soon in their custody. His second victim was an important employee of the State Department and was caught by S.H.I.E.L.D. as well.
(Marvel Super-Heroes III#4) - Mindstorm blew up an office in the Daily Bugle building and shot Spider-Man with a drug-filled dart when he tried to enter the damaged area. Seconds later Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Hitchcock arrived in a helicopter and Fury shot at Mindstorm and accidentally killed him.
Following Mindstorm's death Spider-Man ran amok. Meanwhile Fury was informed that Mindstorm's first victim had died three hours ago. Mindstorm's second victim was in S.H.I.E.L.D. custody and couldn't be sedated because Mindstorm's drug had distorted his body chemistry. The second victim flipped out and Fury used a triple-dosage tranquilizer dart to stop him. Fury sent out a squad to stop Spider-Man and when the antidote was finally finished he shot injected it to Spider-Man with Mindstorm's own weapon.

As pointed out on this issue's first page this story took place before the Nick Fury VS S.H.I.E.L.D. limited series.
This story was an homage to the plot of Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. I#7, also written by Archie Goodwin. It was originally intended for publication in Marvel Fanfare.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Mindstorm's rifle was filled with frozen chemical darts that melted into the target's blood stream. The darts were filled with a drug that went for the brain, turned the victim slowly into a raging maniac and killed him within a few hours. The weapon's ammunition magazine was secured by an explosive lock to stop anybody from the chance of creating an antidote for the drug. --Marvel Super-Heroes III#4 images:

Mindstorm has no known connection to:
A S.H.I.E.L.D. agent named Wilbur was still able to get a pure sample from the rifle by defusing the explosive lock.
