History: (Fantastic Four I#5) - When Doctor Doom sent Mister Fantastic, the Thing, and the Human Torch into the 18th century to retrieve gems for him, the male members of the Fantastic Four quickly knew they had to disguise themselves. Upon finding proper disguises, the trio visited a local bar, where the pirate Mister Spliny bought them all alcoholic drinks known as Grog. The Grog, due to a certain mixture in the drink, quickly put the guys to sleep. As they slept, Mister Spliny ordered his crewmen to carry them aboard his ship, where they would be forced to serve as his crew. Once onboard the ship, Mister Spliny spoke with his pirate crew and ordered them to wake their passengers up. One of his crewmates demanded to know when Spliny was allowed to give the orders. Angered, Mister Spliny attempted to pull a knife on the man until the floor under him gave way, revealing the Thing, who had awakened and announced that the pirates' game was over. A battle quickly ensued between the male members of the Fantastic Four and Mister Spliny's crew, which resulted in the trio taking over the ship and using it to aid them in their search for gems. The trio soon spotted another ship in their vicinity and sent Mister Spliny and his crew over to retrieve the treasure onboard by having them walk over the bridge created by the stretched-out Mister Fantastic. Soon after obtaining Blackbeard's treasure, Doctor Doom teleported the male Fantastic Four members back to the present day, leaving Mister Spliny and crew behind.

In case the numbering of the page numbers is different from your copy of FF#5, I was getting my information from the Marvel Collector's Edition Vol. 1 CD-Rom and was using the numbering system set up in the CD-Rom. -Proto-Man
