N.Y.X.F. (NEW YORK X-FORCE)
of Earth-1030
Membership: Cable, numerous unidentified others (see comments)
Purpose: To ensure that mutants were treated fairly under the U. S. government's special laws
Affiliations: The N.Y.P.D.
Enemies: Those who would treat mutants unfairly
Base of Operations: Manhattan, New York
First Appearance: X-Men Millennial Visions 2001 (January, 2002)
History: (X-Men Millennial Visions 2001 - "X-Force: N.Y.X.F." (fb) - BTS) - The United States government acknowledged the growing mutant population by enacting special laws that gave mutants specific civil rights and responsibilities. In order to ensure the fair treatment of mutants, Cable agreed to temporarily head up the special N. Y. P. D. task force designed to help mutants. Unfortunately, the task force was unable to police the entire mutant community and the powers-that-be gave Cable an offer to lead the newly-formed X-Force to protect mutants.
(X-Men Millennial Visions 2001 - "X-Force: N.Y.X.F.) - After discovering that if he did not accept the offer, the position would be given to someone less honorable, Cable decided to become the leader of X-Force which consisted of many of his old friends and allies. While leading X-Force, Cable felt manipulated and had no confidence in the powers-that-be.
Comments: Created by Pablo Raimondi.
While Cable was the only member of the N.Y.X.F. that was named in the short
story, I found that many of the members pictured were familiar mutants, such as
Phoenix, Shatterstar, Blaquesmith, Cannonball, Meltdown, Sunspot, and Domino.
The big guy behind Cable could be Bishop and the feral mutant at the bottom left
appeared to either be Feral or Wolfsbane, but given the brown fur, I'd go with
Wolfsbane. The mutant behind Domino could be John Proudstar.
Clarifications:
N. Y. X. F. (Earth-Millennial Visions 2001) has no known connection to
CABLE
Cable was the reluctant leader of the N.Y.X.F., serving on the squad with many friends and allies. He did not trust those in the government and was constantly vigilant that any newcomer to the ranks was a spy or traitor.
