Powers/Abilities: San Francisco Slade was an expert rodeo performer, able to bust broncs, wrestle steers and lariat, and carried a gun, but preferred to have others do his dirty work for him.

History: (Gunhawk#7) - San Francisco Slade was set to clean up in the Cayuse rodeo, until Reno Jones came to town, and won the bronc busting event, claiming the prize money. Slade hired two men to rough Reno up, but Reno beat them both.

When Reno won the next day's steer wrestling, Slade hired Durango to kill Reno, but Reno wound up killing Durango instead. Changing plans, Slade, as the only witness, claimed that Reno had shot him in cold blood, and Reno was arrested. Reno was disqualified from the rodeo, and Slade claimed all of Reno's money. He visited Reno in jail to taunt him, and Reno punched Slade through the bars in anger, but the law in Cayuse was on Slade's side, since they knew him.

The American Civil War ended in 1865, and Gunhawks#1 opened one year later, so the events of the Gunhawks series would be set in 1866-1867.

Durango was a gunfighter who San Francisco Slade hired for $100 to kill Reno Jones. Durango called Reno a coward to make him draw, but wasn't prepared for Reno's skill with a gun, as Reno shot Durango dead. Slade then claimed that Reno had shot Durango in cold blood.
