STAR-BLAZER
Classification: Terrestrial technology
Creator: Cornelius Van Lunt
Users/Possessors: Aries (Grover Raymond), Taurus (Cornelius Van Lunt)
First Appearance: Avengers I#120 (February, 1974)
Powers/Abilities/Functions: The Star-Blazer drew its power "from the stars" (ie, solar power), and could fire blasts of energy.
History: (Avengers I#120) - Taurus first wielded the Star-Blazer when he led the Zodiac Cartel in an assault upon Avengers Mansion, blasting down one of the mansion's walls with the gun. The weapon managed to bring down both Thor and the Vision. Mantis snatched the Star-Blazer away from Taurus, but was quickly overwhelmed by the rest of the Zodiac, who reclaimed the gun.
(Avengers I#122) - Aries wielded a copy of the Star-Blazer against the Avengers after they had been stranded in space by Taurus, and blasted the Vision and Iron Man with it, but was ultimately convinced by the Vision to aid them in returning to Earth. As soon as they returned to Earth, Aries turned on the Avengers, and brought down Thor with the Star-Blazer. Taurus also wielded his Star-Blazer against the Vision, but both men were defeated by the Avengers.
(West Coast Avengers II#26) - After the rest of the Zodiac Cartel had been slain by the Zodiac LMDs, Van Lunt confronted Dr. Henry Pym and Iron Man with his Star-Blazer drawn, and asked for their aid. He wound up turning himself over to their custody for protection, and to aid the Avengers against the LMDs.
(West Coast Avengers II#29) - When Van Lunt escaped from the Avengers, he was chased down by Moon Knight, and used the Star-Blazer in a desperate attempt to ward him off. As they struggled aboard a plane, Van Lunt accidentally fired a blast through the ceiling of the plane, and wound up crashing the plane, apparently dying.
