(Combat Kelly and his Deadly Dozen#5 (fb)) - When Laurie Livingston was brought to Devil's Island by Nazi spies, Major Strasser took custody of her, bringing her to his quarters in an attempt to seduce her because her father was already a prisoner in Nazi Germany, and held important strategic information. When Livingston stabbed him with a knife, she was sent to the cells with the other prisoners. She later seemed to repent, and was sent to apologize to Strasser, who accepted it graciously. He arranged for a romantic dinner with her, but her friends Doc Watson and Howard Shigeta were engineering a breakout, and brought her a gun. She took Strasser hostage so that they could use him to escape the island, but Strasser's own Sgt. Schoen shot Strasser dead so that he couldn't be used as a hostage.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Major Strasser should not be confused with:
Sgt. Schoen was the sadistic right-hand man of Major Strasser, and took to beating Howard Shigeta when he arrived on Devil's Island. When Watson stood up for Howard by spitting in Schoen's face, he had the men put through ordeals that included sweatboxes, obstacle courses, and whippings. When Shigeta, Watson and Laurie Livingston led a breakout, holding Major Strasser hostage, Schoen shot Strasser dead so that he couldn't be used against them. Schoen later stole aboard the ship that the escaping prisoners boarded, but Laurie Livingston shot him dead, knocking him into the water.
