History: (Blade: Vampire Hunter I#1 (fb) - BTS) - At some point Julia married Ray. (Blade: Vampire Hunter I#2 (fb) - BTS) - They had a daughter. Ray bought a brownhouse building as a tax loss in his financial portfolio. (Blade: Vampire Hunter I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Julia's marriage to Ray wasn't a happy one and eventually all his lies and the constant grief ruined their marriage. (Blade: Vampire Hunter I#1 (fb) - BTS) - As a divorcement settlement Julia Suarez got an old building in NYC (could be in the Bronx) from her ex-husband Ray. (Blade: Vampire Hunter I#3 (fb) - BTS) - Julia raised her daughter alone. (Blade: Vampire Hunter I#1) - Blade moved into Julia's house to help her renovate it. She cooked him some "hot'n'spicy" food and they talked about their miserable lives. Julia talked about her divorce and Blade about his dead mother and his dead friends without revealing too much. When Julia told him that a journalist named Tara Algren had called to talk with Blade about the Nightstalkers, he told her to always tell the reporter that he was not at home. (Blade: Vampire Hunter I#2) - Julia and Blade cleaned up a dusty room in the building. Julia told Blade that her husband had used this house for years as a tax loss in his financial portfolio. She also talked about her daughter and how motherhood had changed her life over night. When they heard noises from a closet Julia opened it. Bats flew out of the closet and Julia drifted them out the next window with her mop. She was surprised how fearful Blade acted the second he saw the bats. Julia ended their working day because she needed some coffee and doughnuts. Julia left alone when Bible John entered the room to talk with Blade. (Blade: Vampire Hunter I#3) - After a hard day Julia sat in front of her TV set and while thinking about her divorce and how she had to raise her daughter all alone. Suddenly the telephone rang, but nobody answered when Julia took the call. (it was Crossbow; see comments) (Blade: Vampire Hunter I#4) - On a rainy day Julia wanted to go down to the store. She went to Blade to ask him if he needed anything and he wanted more band-aids. Julia told him that it wouldn't hurt his pride to admit that he was beaten up and promised him to return with an old family recipe for an herbal bath to soothe his pains. On her way home from the store a man with long hair (Crossbow again) followed Julia and she ran home scared. He was gone when she was at her door. (Blade: Vampire Hunter I#6) - Afraid to go shopping alone Blade escorted Julia to the shop and back home. She thought about selling the building to a property developer that gave her an offer and to move to her sister's place in Chicago, but Blade reminded her of her own words that no matter how bad things were, they did get better. When they reached home Blade left Julia alone to go after a woman that reminded him of his old girlfriend Glory. (Blade: Vampire Hunter I#7) - After weeks of work Julia and Blade were finished with a room formerly filled with junk from floor to ceiling. Julia did most of the work when Blade while Blade was in L.A. and decided to stay in her building. She hoped that she would soon be able to rent some of the rooms. They left the finished room and Julia got a call from her daughter Mariella who asked Julia if she had a room for her. Julia was happy to offer her a room for free. (Blade: Vampire Hunter I#9) - One day Julia saw somebody on the roof across the street and she recognized him as the creep who was following her some time ago. Julia got a feeling that it was someone familiar and hoped that it wasn't her ex-husband Ray or some other ex. Suddenly somebody opened the backdoor and for a second Julia was afraid that it was her stalker, but it turned out to be Mariella. Julia welcomed her daughter, but not far away she saw the man that followed her and it was not Ray. She closed the door and asked her daughter to lock the door. (Blade: Vampire Hunter I#10) - On another day on her way home from shopping Julia met Blade (actually Crossbow in disguise) and he accompanied her home. Later that night Bible John visited Julia and Mariella and they had a lot to talk about. Comments: Created by Ian Edginton (writer), Douglas Wheatley (pencils), Chris Ivy (inks). The mysterious caller in Blade: Vampire Hunter I#3 was supposed to be Crossbow as revealed in the letters page to Blade: Vampire Hunter I#10, but to me the person in the telephone booth looked more like a woman. In Blade: Vampire Hunter I#4 Crossbow was back as a long-haired guy. Read more about Crossbow in his own profile. Profile by Markus Raymond CLARIFICATIONS: (Blade: Vampire Hunter I#2 (fb) - BTS) - She was born as the daughter of Julia and Ray. (Blade: Vampire Hunter I#3 (fb) - BTS) - Julia raised Mariella alone. (Blade: Vampire Hunter I#7 - BTS) - Mariella called her mother and asked her if she had a room for her. They got at each others throat as both suspected the other to be some evildoer, but they soon realized their mistake. Blade left after the struggle without an excuse. When her mother was brought home by Blade (actually Crossbow in disguise) she was surprised to see him again as her told her only moments before that he was "expected" uptown.
