History: (X-Factor I#140 (fb) - BTS) - Certain members of Xavier's Security Enforcers, the peace-keeping mutant force on Earth-1191, an alternate reality set eighty years in the future, felt that the X.S.E. was failing to implement Charles Xavier's dream of peaceful coexistence between mutants and humans. These members, including Archer, a devout soldier with the ability to turn to energy, who'd lost his family; Fixx, a powerful telepath whose powers manifested in psionic fairies; Greystone, a rebellious teenager with the power to grow in size and strength though he grew more grotesque when he did so; and an unidentified leader, decided to covertly work towards Xavier's dream, becoming rogue agents to the X.S.E. and forming Xavier's Underground Enforcers. The X.U.E. worked to implement missions that would further the dream but that the X.S.E. wouldn't touch. Fixx established a telepathic connection between the X.U.E. members. The X.U.E. put together a plan to utilize Trevor Fitzroy, an evil mutant terrorist whose powers could traverse time after draining the lifeforce of another, to send them back in time where they could alter history and ensure that their future never took place. They decided to work to recruit Shard, an active member of the X.S.E., to help them in this mission as she'd had a past relationship with Fitzroy. Archer, Fixx, and Greystone developed reputations as rogue agents and were rejected and feared by their peers in the X.S.E.(X-Factor I#145 (fb) - BTS) - The deadly Micah ran a camp in charge of branding mutants, and Fixx and Greystone were two of those in his camp.
(X-Factor I#140 (fb)) - Archer, Fixx, Greystone, and Shard participated in a mission alongside other members of the X.S.E. against the Exhumes, vampiric former humans, who'd been hoarding weapons since the Summers Rebellion. Fixx and Archer invited Shard to their base in an attempt to recruit her after Shard showed dissatisfaction in the X.S.E.'s policies. After they introduced Shard the X.U.E., Fixx included her in their telepathic connection. Shard agreed to help them in their mission to find Fitzroy, and attempted to decipher Fitzroy's whereabouts from Bantam, Fitzroy's subservient, but Bantam refused. The four of them broke Bantam out of the Pool, a prison for evil mutants, and returned him to their base.
(X-Factor I#141 (fb)) - The X.U.E., in disguise, pursued Bantam to Fitzroy, who they captured and returned to their base. Shard foolishly let Fitzroy free when he agreed to aid them and Fitzroy attempted to escape, but was recaptured. Shard, disheartened, chose to leave the X.U.E., however, and returned to the X.S.E., never betraying the X.U.E. or their purpose. The X.U.E.'s activities over the following years are unknown.
(X-Factor I#141 (fb) - BTS) - Shard was later killed in battle with the Exhumes and her brother, Bishop, had her brain engrams loaded into a holographic matrix device. Bishop took this device with him into the past when he pursued Fitzroy through one of his portals.
(X-Factor I#141) - After being wounded in battle, Shard's hologram form anchored itself and achieved a physical form. Fixx sensed this and used their link with Shard to allow she, Archer, and Greystone to travel to the past, on Earth-616, as Fixx's psionic fairies.
(X-Factor I#143) - The psionic fairies took refuge in the recently deceased forms of three humans who'd been killed in an accident. Archer inhabited the body of Jude Black, a former terrorist and family man. Greystone took over the body of Brian Young, a young teenager fleeing from his abusive parents. Fixx inhabited the body of "Jane Doe," a woman with a mysterious past Fixx could not recall. They immediately contacted the shape-shifting Mystique and met her at Times Square, and convinced her to help them find Havok, Alex Summers, so they could prevent a horrible future from happening. Mystique led them into the Morlock Tunnels, where Havok was having a confrontation with the reality-hopping Dark Beast, and Shard followed them there.
(X-Factor I#144) - The X.U.E. and Mystique briefly fought Dark Beast, Havok, and Shard until the telepathic Morlock Ever broke up their fight, the psychic feedback briefly causing the X.U.E. members to revert to human form. The X.U.E. revealed that they were trying to prevent Havok from releasing the Dark Beast's infected captives, which would inadvertently cause an epidemic in the human population that would, in the future, be a cause for much persecution for mutants. Ever, Shard, and Havok aided the X.U.E. in tracking the Dark Beast and subduing his aides, Random (who turned against the Beast) and Fatale. They successfully stopped the Dark Beast's plot.
(X-Factor I#145) - The X.U.E. members trained with Havok for a time. While Archer pursued his host body, Jude Black's life, Greystone and Fixx tracked down the child Micah Lynch, who would grow up to be the deadly Micah. After rescuing Micah from a cult, they realized they'd altered history again.
(X-Factor I#146) - The X.U.E. members continued acclimating to their new lives, aiding Archer against the Genoshan military. They considered Havok their leader and included him their telepathic union.
(X-Factor I#147) - The X.U.E. began considering themselves official members of Havok's team, X-Factor, alongside Polaris and Multiple Man.
(X-Factor I#149) - The X.U.E., and thusly X-Factor, soon broke apart. Archer left to pursue a family life and Greystone, suffering from temporal insanity, built a time machine that exploded, killing Greystone and shunting Havok to an alternate dimension. Fixx's whereabouts are unknown.
Comments: Created by Howard Mackie, Duncan Rouleau, and Jamie Mendoza.
The writers of this series obviously did not get to finish up on many of the complicated plots they started, such as the identity of the X.U.E.'s leader.
