History:  (What If? II#107) - After Thor had assumed the throne of Asgard, he sent Sif and the Warriors Three to negotiate a treaty with the Norn Queen. When they succeeded, Thor welcomed them back to Asgard and prepared for celebration. Happy to be with friends, Thor sought to check in on his old friend Eric Masterson via the Universal Mirror. Upon seeing Eric (now calling himself Thunderstrike) battling Bloodaxe, Thor opted to aid his friend but Odin arrived and reminded Thor that his duties were now with Asgard. While Odin then made his leave on a personal quest, Mephisto and Loki plotted against the new king Thor. As the Avengers battled Mangog on Earth, Thor watched as his friends battled and the Warriors Three, along with Sif, announced that they would go aid the Avengers in Thor's stead. Since the Warriors Three were dispatched instead of Thor, Loki's plot to lure Thor away from Asgard using Mangog failed and he then set in motion in "plan B." Using his mental abilities, Loki animated the Destroyer from its deactivation and sent into Asgard. Finally feeling as if he should not send anyone against an unbeatable foe, Thor once again hefted Mjolnir and rushed into battle against the Loki-controlled Destroyer. Mephisto happily gloated that Loki's plan was working until he was confronted by Odin, who had come to slay the demon. Thor soon managed to destroy the Destroyer as well using his newly-gained Odinpower and when Loki returned to Mephisto's realm to report failure, he too was confronted by Odin, who announced that he had exiled Mephisto. Odin then exiled Loki as well, explaining that his personal quest was one to eliminate all evil. With the Destroyer gone, as well as Loki and Mephisto, Thor appeared before the Avengers and the Warriors Three, exiling Mangog as well. Following the defeat of Mephisto and his pawns, Thor wed the Lady Sif in Asgard with Thunderstrike wondering what future there might have been if Sif had not married Thor.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Earth-Thor Had Never Gone Insane, & Assumed the Throne of Asgard has no known connections to

The Avengers

While Thor ruled over Asgard, the Avengers continued fighting crime as they always had. When Loki sent Mangog to battle the Avengers in an effort to lure Thor away from Asgard, the Avengers suffered a serious beating though Thor did not leave. Instead, Thor sent Sif and the Warriors Three to aid the Avengers and as the battle progressed, the Avengers did not seem to be succeeding. Thunderstrike and Sif were about to reveal their true feelings about one another when Thor appeared and banished Mangog from Earth. Thunderstrike later tried to talk to Sif but Sif married Thor as Thunderstrike wondered "what if?"

The Avengers were: (from left to right): Quicksilver, Giant-Man, Thunderstrike, Crystal, Captain America, and Black Knight.

Balder the Brave

Balder the Brave was the same as his Earth-616 counterpart up until Thor took over ruling Asgard. Balder remained ever-supportive of Thor and helped Sif and the Warriors Three negotiate a treaty with the Norn Queen. Despite his protests, Thor left Asgard to battle the Loki-controlled Destroyer.

Balder had the conventional attributes of an Asgardian, including superhuman longevity, strength, durability, and resistance.

--What If? II#107

Bloodaxe

Bloodaxe was the same as his Earth-616 counterpart and prior to the Avengers battling Mangog, Thunderstrike defeated Bloodaxe and took his mace in custody.

--What If? II#107

The Destroyer

The Destroyer, like its 616 counterpart, was a robotic creation that was only sentient when someone's lifeforce animated it. In an effort to lure Thor away from Asgard, Loki possessed the Destroyer himself and attacked Thor. After a long battle, Thor managed to destroy the Destroyer by using his newfound Odin-power. Loki made a retreat prior to its destruction but soon met with exile himself at the hands of Odin.

The Destroyer had godlike strength, durability, and resistance, as well as a wide array of energy-based powers like its Earth-616 counterpart.

Fandral the Dashing

Fandral the Dashing was basically the same as his Earth-616 counterpart up until Thor became Lord of Asgard. One of his first assignments following Thor's ascendance to the throne was to go with his fellow Warriors Three, Sif, and Balder to negotiate a treaty with the Norn Queen. He was later sent to Earth to aid the Avengers against Mangog, who nearly defeated everyone present until Thor intervened and banished Mangog.

Fandral, like other Asgardians, had superhuman strength, stamina, resistance, longevity, and durability.

The Grand Vizier

The Grand Vizier was a close associate of Thor who constantly reminded Thor of his duty to Asgard. Thor eventually went against the Vizier's wishes and went into battle against the Destroyer. When Thor returned, the Grand Vizier wed him to Sif.

Given that he was Asgardian, the Grand Vizier presumably had superhuman strength, durability, longevity, and stamina.

--What If? II#107

Heimdall

Heimdall was the same as his Earth-616 counterpart, continuing to guard the Rainbow Bridge even after Thor became Lord of Asgard.

Heimdall, like other Asgardians, had superhuman strength, stamina, resistance, longevity, and durability.

--What If? II#107

Hogun the Grim

Hogun the Grim was the same as his Earth-616 counterpart up until Thor gained the throne of Asgard. While he remained with the Warriors Three, he was sent to negotiate a treaty with the Norn Queen and was later sent with them to aid the Avengers against Mangog.

Hogun the Grim had superhuman strength, stamina, resistance, longevity, and durability.

--What If? II#107

Loki

Loki was the same as his Earth-616 counterpart up until he and Mephisto plotted to destroy Asgard. From Mephisto's realm, Loki sent Mangog to attack the Avengers in an attempt to lure Thor away from Asgard. When that plan failed, Loki sent his own life astral form to inhabit the Destroyer and finally succeeded in luring Thor away from Asgard to halt the Destroyer. Thor eventually destroyed the Destroyer and Loki managed to escape its form in the nick of time, only to arrive back in Mephisto's realm to find him banished. Odin soon confronted Loki there, banishing him as well.

Loki, like all Asgardians, had superhuman strength, resistance, longevity, durability, and stamina, as well as superior mystical abilities.

--What If? II#107

Mangog

Mangog was the same as his Earth-616 counterpart up until Loki sent him to Earth in an attempt to lure Thor away from Asgard. While Mangog did draw Thor's attention as he soundly defeated the Avengers, Thor did not leave Asgard, instead sending Sif and the Warriors Three to aid the Avengers. Sif and the Warriors did not fare much better but Thor eventually intervened and banished Mangog from Earth.

Mangog displayed godlike strength and durability.

--What If? II#107

Mephisto

Mephisto was the same as his Earth-616 up until Thor took over the throne of Asgard and Mephisto and Loki plotted to destroy Asgard in Odin's absence. What Mephisto did not count on was Odin's personal quest to destroy evil following his retirement. Odin soon confronted Mephisto while Loki was battling Thor and banished Mephisto from his own realm.

Mephisto had all of the same demonic powers that his 616 counterpart had.

--What If? II#107

Odin

Odin was the same as his Earth-616 counterpart up until he passed the throne of Asgard over to his son Thor. Once in retirement, Odin reminded Thor that his duties were to Asgard and then left on a personal quest to destroy evil. His first stop took him to Mephisto's realm where Mephisto and Loki were plotting to destroy Asgard. After banishing Mephisto, Odin waited for Loki to return and banished him as well.

Odin had superhuman strength, longevity, resistance, durability, and stamina, as well as superior magical skills.

--What If? II#107

Lady Sif

Lady Sif was the same as her Earth-616 counterpart up until Thor took over the throne of Asgard and proposed to her. While she accepted, she remained somewhat distant from Thor, often desiring to remain busy with battle instead of with Thor. She was sent with the Warriors Three to first negotiate a treaty with the Norn Queen and later sent to aid the Avengers against Mangog. While aiding the Avengers, Sif was about to comment to Thunderstrike about the possibility of their last words together but before anything could be said, Thor arrived and banished Mangog. Following the battle, Thor wed Sif while Thunderstrike wondered about what could have been with Sif.

Sif had superhuman strength, resistance, longevity, durability, and stamina.

--What If? II#107

Thor

Thor was the same as his Earth-616 counterpart up until he became Lord of Asgard. After proposing to Sif, he sent her and the Warriors Three to negotiate a treaty with the Norn Queen and later sent them to Earth to aid the Avengers against Mangog. Soon after, Loki animated the Destroyer into attacking Asgard and Thor left his post as king to destroy the Destroyer. He then appeared on Earth and banished Mangog. Following the banishment of Mangog, Thor wed Sif.

Thor had superhuman strength, durability, longevity, stamina, and resistance.

--What If? II#107

Volstagg the Vainglorious

Volstagg was the same as his Earth-616 counterpart up until Thor became king of Asgard. Thor's first duty as king was to send Volstagg and the Warriors Three to negotiate a treaty with the Norn Queen. Thor later sent Volstagg to Earth to aid the Avengers against Mangog. Following the defeat of Mangog, Volstagg went to Thor's wedding to Sif.

Volstagg had superhuman strength, stamina, resistance, longevity, and durability.
