History:
(Daredevil I#236 (fb) - BTS) - Jack Hazzard grew up with his mother and experienced several undisclosed childhood traumas. Seeking to create the perfect assassin, the US military brought in the adult Hazzard for experimentation and had him undergo procedures that stripped his brain away of all guilt and previous impulses, leaving it with only reptilian responses. In addition, Hazzard was given the power to mentally stop the hearts of others. Hazzard was an ideal soldier until his discharge. When he heard about another soldier, Nuke, going insane and killing dozens, his impulses were reawakened, however, leaving him with massive amounts of guilt and worry. His brain started regressing to a point where he would either commit suicide or take dozens of others with him. Aware of this, the government sent Black Widow to track Hazzard down and stop him.
(Daredevil I#236) - On the 4th of July, Hazzard was reading an article about Nuke in the local paper when a waitress flirted with him, reminding him that her name was Sally and that she'd had a crush on him in school. Overwhelmed with emotion, Hazzard lashed out in fury and nearly caused her to have a heart attack before he rushed outside. A man selling him fireworks made Hazzard anxious, so he gave the man a heart attack and rushed away, not knowing Daredevil was following him. He visited his mother and nearly lost control again when she mentioned Nuke. After she introduced him to her nephew Tommy, who also wanted to be a soldier, Hazzard grew concerned when she had a heart murmur. Hazzard showed Tommy how to hold a gun, deeply mourning his lost childhood and the expectations put upon his as a soldier. When he saw Daredevil and Black Widow approaching, he felt that they were representatives from Hell and leapt to attack them. After trading several blows, Hazzard began seizing Daredevil's heart. Black Widow drew Hazzard's gun and held him at gunpoint and he forced her to pull the trigger, instantly killing him.
(Daredevil I#247) - Project: Reptile recovered Hazzard's body and the scientists revealed that his form had only been simulating death. They surmised that in a month they could revive his body and repair his brain.
