Powers/Abilities: Lucas Jackson had a malformed body but possessed a large frame. His right hand was disfigured. He was able to sense the emotions from others through his eyes, as well as amplify emotions of love and well being into others' minds. In effect, this produced strong feelings of love and euphoria. A side effect of this was that he could make others forget their hatred and fear of him.
History:
(Thing I#4 (fb)) - Lucas Jackson was born into the world a hideously deformed child. His fatherleft both his wife and child for unknown reasons and was never heard from again. For 12 years of living with his mother alone in the woods and sheltered from the angry and suspicious people of Rock Hollow, he grew up without the knowledge of hate.
(Thing I#4 - BTS) - The local economy in Rock Hollow fell dramatically.
(Thing I#4) - Needing a scapegoat, the citizens of Rock Hollow blamed the monster child for all the economic problems afflicting their small town. Over time, the problems grew worse and many townsfolk became angrier and decided to attack Lucas at his home, thinking that with his death, the town could prosper once again.
An angry mob then converged on his home. Lucas told his mother that he didn’t understand why the townsfolk were there for he thought that he was a person just like them. The crowd began to throw rocks and threatened to burn the house down, but were interrupted with the appearance of the Thing and Lockjaw, who teleported between the mob and the house. Some of the mob turned and ran away in fear from the arrival of two more "monsters", while others focused their anger on them. A few minutes later, the local sheriff showed up and fired his gun into the air, forcing them all to depart. Offering to help the poor child, the Thing left Lockjaw behind to protect Lucas while he and the sheriff went back to town so he could call Reed Richards for some help.
(Thing I#4- BTS) - The mob returned once more and somebody shot Lockjaw with a gun. Both Lucas and his mother hid inside the shack for protection from the attack.
(Thing I#4) - A wounded Lockjaw teleported to the sheriff's station and alerted both the Thing and the sheriff, who hurried back to the Jackson home. Sarah Jackson peeked out the front window of the house but was struck in the head with a rock and fell dead in the doorway. The mob stopped fighting as Lucas Jackson ambled out of the shack and, with tears falling from his strange looking eyes, empathically sent out wave after wave of powerful feelings of love and well being that ended the conflict and erased the mob's memories of hate, which sent them all homeward. He realized he met their hatred with the greatest power a man can summon - his love.
That same night after burying his mother and mourning his loss, he was teleported with Lockjaw to the Inhuman city of Attilan to live with others who would not judge him by his monstrous appearance.
Comments: Created by Created by John Byrne (writer), Ron Wilson (pencils) & Hilary Barta (inks).
He was unintentionally referred to as Lucas Washington in one panel of the story. Maybe his mother was never married to his father and his last name was Washington while his mother’s name was Jackson. Although this was probably a typo missed by the writer and editor, perhaps his real name was really Lucas Jackson-Washington.
Thanks to Brandon Nash for pointing out Jackson's home state, which was revealed in his profile in OHotMU Update#5 (2011).

CLARIFICATIONS:
Lucas & Sarah Ann Jackson have no known connections to:
Growing up in a poverty, Sarah Jackson gave birth to a hideously deformed son she named Lucas whom she loved with all her soul. For some unknown reason, her husband abandoned her and the child and never returned. The town she lived in fell on hard times and blamed her son for all its problems. For 12 years, she lived a small shack with her son Lucas, sheltering her from the outside world and teaching him to be a good person. Working long and hard, toiling her land to get by, she began to look much older and more haggard than she really was. The economic problems in Rock Hollow got steadily worse and an angry mob went to her home to destroy her monster child. She was killed by a rock that was thrown through her window by someone in the mob and was buried that same night by her son who mourned her death.
