JOHNNY PUNK
Real Name: Unrevealed
Identity/Class: Human technology user
Occupation: Musician
Group Membership: None
Affiliations: His two unidentified henchmen
Enemies: Daredevil (Matt Murdock)
Known Relatives: None
Aliases: None
Base of Operations: Mobile
First Appearance: Hostess Fruit Pies ad "Daredevil vs. Johnny Punk!" in Moon Knight I#4 (February, 1981) and other issues in that month
Powers/Abilities: None, but Johnny Punk employed advanced high-frequency sound equipment for mind-control and other destructive effects.
History: (Hostess Fruit Pies ad "Daredevil vs. Johnny Punk!") - During one of his concerts, Johnny Punk adjusted his sound equipment to raise the decibels to "mega-pitch" high frequency, and thereby use the sound waves to "lock" the brains of his audience and enslave them for his own brand of "crowd control".
But outside the auditorium, Daredevil's hypersensitive hearing allowed him to overhear Johnny's plans. When DD swung inside and confronted Johnny Punk, the Mohawked marauder threatened to blow the roof off the building with sound, and Daredevil's radar sense warned him that Johnny had enough electric potential to do just that!
But with his quick thinking, DD defused the perilous situation by offering the punk-rock plunderer and his cohorts some delicious Hostess Apple and Cherry Fruit Pies instead -- the light tender crust and real fruit filling of the tasty snacks was enough to distract Johnny and his men long enough for Daredevil to ensnare the trio with his billyclub's rope line -- presumably, they were turned over to the authorities.
Having taught Johnny Punk a valuable lesson -- that a Hostess Fruit Pie was better than the fruits of crime -- Daredevil swung off, thankful to Hostess because he wouldn't have to listen to Johnny's music anymore.
Comments: Created by an unknown writer and an unknown artist.
Johnny Punk's advanced technology reminded me of the devices used by rock star Vince Rivers; maybe Johnny Punk was also working as an agent for Zirksu... or maybe he WAS Zirksu in disguise -- he did have a green Mohawk...
