Powers/Abilities: Roderick Kane possessed an above average intellect in science and technology from his native 51^st century. He appeared rather frail looking and may have possessed below average strength. He had demonstrated above average agility and was able to avoid being attacked from a mountain lion by side stepping it. It may be possible that his outfit was specially designed and may have had built-in proximity sensors that enabled greater agility. Using his 51^st century science, Roderick Kane created a gas called X-32, which was able to shrink the size of animals alongside an antidote gas that would reverse its effects.

History:

(Strange Tales I#92/2 (fb) - BTS) - Roderick Kane hailing from the 51^st century received a science degree and toiled for years to make something of himself in the eyes of his peers. Unable to achieve any sort of fame, he planned to violate his century's laws against time travel and transport himself to a less advanced time period to use his greater knowledge of science to conquer the planet.

(Strange Tales I#92/2) - Roderick Kane snuck into a guarded laboratory containing a time machine and transported himself to the year 1962. Appearing on the streets of New York City, he began walking down the streets and the people who saw him thought he was doing a science fiction publicity stunt for an upcoming movie. Knowing that he would not have any problem with blending in, Roderick Kane began studying the technological and scientific advances. After witnessing the time period's primitive weapons and archaic rocket ships firsthand and that this civilization had not yet invented the cobalt bomb, realized that this primitive world would be easy to conquer. He set up a secret lab in the mountains 100 miles from any human settlement and started producing X-32 gas that was able to shrink animal life and an antidote that could counteract the chemical's effect. He tested X-32 on a rabbit successfully and went outside to find a larger specimen. Coming across a mountain lion, Roderick Kane evades the animals attack and uses his gas to shrink it. Roderick Kane next needed to test his X-32 gas on a human being but since he was too far away from civilization chose to test it on himself. Inside his lab, the gas is released and Roderick begins to quickly shrink. With his fate sealed, Roderick Kane was unable to open the cork on the bottle containing the antidote and tried desperately to break the glass container. The man, who would have been ruler of the world, kept shrinking until he eventually disappeared into nothingness.

This 8' tall circus freak drank a shrinking potion in Mystic#1 (March, 1951) "The Man Who Vanished" and shared the same fate as Roderick Kane.
