Powers/Abilities: The giant Krokarr had a humanoid body with the head of a griffin (lion's mane and a beaked face) and a lion's tail. Each hand had three clawed fingers and an opposable thumb; presumably he had only three or four toes per foot as well. He evidenced the ability to redirect water into a blast forceful enough to knock down a god, though the origin and full extent of this power is unrevealed. The missing gods of Olympus only re-emerged after Krokarr's defeat, which implies that his powers in some way confined them, though exactly how this happened is also unrevealed.

Hair: Purple
History:
(Marvel Two-in-One I#44 (fb) - BTS) - Krokarr, Manduu, and
Y'Androgg were all members of a race of giants which came from a star
located in the same dimension as Olympus (see comments). The trio
stealthily invaded Olympus while its gods were suffering from the
after-effects of over-celebration during the Spring Festival. The giants bound Zeus in a flame pit within the
Tower
of the Sun, severely devastated much of Olympus, and banished
most of the gods.
(Marvel Two-in-One I#44 (fb)) - Krokarr was frolicking at the Watergate, an area of Olympus marked by elaborate pools and waterfalls. When Hercules, the Thing, and Zeus flew up in a chariot pulled by a winged horse, he deduced that Zeus' presence meant that both Manduu and Y'Androgg had been defeated (see those individual profiles for details). Krokarr redirected the flow of water from a waterfall through his hands and into a blast which knocked the trio out of the chariot; however, Zeus shouted something to the flying steed, causing the winged horse to fly back and catch all the falling heroes in the chariot.
With his power no longer constrained by the sinister sorcery of the three giant invaders, Zeus projected energy from his hands that immediately froze Krokarr inside a block of ice. Following Krokarr's defeat, the missing gods of Olympus began to emerge from the Watergate.
(Marvel Two-in-One I#44) - At Camp Run-A-Mok, the Thing entertained some restless children with the story of how he and Hercules battled the three monstrous giants (see comments).
Comments: Created by Marv Wolfman, Bob Hall, and Frank Giacoia.
This entire story is told in flashback by Ben Grimm to the children of Camp Run-A-Mok. Since it is a retelling, some elements of the story may be exaggerated or outright false. However, the story contains some elements of truth as the Mighty Avengers: Most Wanted Files (2007) confirmed the invasion as having occurred, and confirmed some of the Olympian locations mentioned in the story (including the Watergate) as being real.
And after his tale, the kids wanted to hear another story, so the Thing told them about how he and Iron Man took on the Ravagers of Raguu.
When Hercules confronted Manduu, he referred to the three giants as "demons from Hades"--perhaps all three were agents working in some plot for Pluto.--Ron Fredricks

The Watergate in Olympus has no known connection to:
The Watergate is an immense canyon with a number of waterfalls cascading into a large lake. It is located in the southern end of Olympus proper, below the Spring of Artemis. The majority of the Olympian gods were somehow bound here when Krokarr, Manduu, and Y'Androgg invaded Olympus; Krokarr guarded them before being defeated by Zeus. --Marvel Two-in-One#44 (fb) |
