History: (Incredible Hulk I#4/Giant-Size Incredible Hulk#1 (fb)) - Ten-year old Maria was one of the children aboard a school bus when its motor stalled while crossing a set of train tracks. A train suddenly appeared, bearing down on the bus, but the driver had no time to evacuate it. Maria had begun to pray when suddenly the Hulk appeared and lifted the train off the tracks, narrowly averting a collision. Maria and the other children told their story to the newspapers, but it was dismissed as hysteria.

(Giant-Size Incredible Hulk#1) - Now grown up and employed at the Daily Grind as a waitress, Maria was tracked down for an interview with Fred Sloan, who was preparing to write a book about the Hulk. Maria was excited at being interviewed and happily related her story. Maria explained that she knew the Hulk was considered a monster by many, but that she always thought of him as a big green angel. Fred related some of his own encounters with the Hulk to Maria and she was surprised to learn how well he knew the Hulk.

Comments: Created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Dick Ayers, Roger Stern, Zach Howard and Cory Hamscher.

If Maria was ten at the time of Incredible Hulk I#4, that would place her in the range of 20-25 in the present.
