MOON TRACTOR
Classification: Terrestrial technology
Creator: Tony Stark
User/Possessors: Stark Industries
First Appearance: Avengers I#2 (November, 1963)
Powers/Abilities/Functions: The specifications for the Moon Tractor are unknown, but the six-wheeled vehicle was presumably built for lunar exploration.
History: (Iron Man: The Iron Age#1) - The Moon Tractor was developed by Tony Stark during a period where Stark Industries was beset by the Saboteur, whose industrial sabotage interfered with several tests. Tony hoped that the Moon Tractor would help sway the US government to keep their contracts with Stark Industries.
(Avengers I#2) - As the Avengers -- Iron Man (Tony Stark), the Hulk, Giant-Man (Henry Pym) and the Wasp -- tracked the Space Phantom to the grounds of Stark Industries, the Space Phantom assumed the form of Giant-Man and began to fight the Hulk in one of the storage buildings. "Giant-Man" pushed the Moon Tractor and rolled it towards the Hulk, but falling to his back and using his legs, the Hulk pushed the lunar vehicle back with even greater force. As "Giant-Man" leapt out of its path, the onrushing Moon Tractor headed on a collision course with Iron Man. Iron Man pressed a stud on his chest control, causing his suit to become rigid and magnetizing his boots to the floor. The impact of the vehicle colliding with Iron Man caused it to come to a complete stop and its wheels to detach, but the rest of the Moon Tractor appeared undamaged.
