RIGOLETTO
Real Name: Rigoletto (first name unrevealed)
Identity/Class: Human
Occupation: Mob leader
Group Membership: None
Affiliations: Vincente Paolo Fortunato;
formerly Wilson Fisk
Enemies: Wilson Fisk
Known Relatives: Dante Rigoletto (nephew)
Aliases: None
Base of Operations: New York City, New York
First Appearance: Daredevil: The Man Without Fear#3 (December, 1993)
Powers/Abilities: Rigoletto was a criminal with powerful connections and resources.
History:
(Daredevil: The Man Without Fear#3 (fb) - BTS) - Rigoletto was a mob leader in New York City for years. He grew disgusted when his men wanted more profits by bringing child prostitution and crack cocaine in the neighborhoods. He also hired a strong man as his assistant, but he did not know the man's name (Wilson Fisk).
(Amazing Spider-Man#-1 (fb) - BTS) - By Rigoletto's order the attacker of his nephew Dante was killed.
(Amazing Spider-Man#-1) - Fortunato met with Rigoletto to tell him that he was in danger, but Rigoletto wouldn't believe him because he was sure nobody would dare to challenge him, the boss of the underworld. Fortunato changed the topic to Dante's health and Rigoletto told him that he healed unlike his attacker.
(Daredevil: The Man Without Fear#3/Amazing Spider-Man#-1) - Tired, Rigoletto held a meeting and again denounced the new crimes. After the meeting his strong aid started to give him a shoulder massage, but broke Rigoletto's neck instead.
(Amazing Spider-Man#-1) - Fisk ordered three men to dispose of Rigoletto's corpse.
Comments: Created by Frank Miller, John Romita, Jr, and Al Williamson.
Don Rigoletto also appears in Spider-Men II#3 (November, 2017). Bendis fully retconned his history while Sara Pichelli changed the design (Rigoletto does not have an eyepatch anymore). There is the possibility that it was not Don Rigoletto from Amazing Spider-Man#-1 and Daredevil: Man Without Fear but another member of the Rigoletto Crime Family.

Sounds pretty convincing that it’s not the same character…good 'ol Bendis.

I call it the post-Secret Wars III syndrome. History has changed despite Marvel saying it hasn't.
