Powers/Abilities: The Thing possessed a freakish appearance and presumably had superhuman strength, resistance, and durability.
History: (Marvel Vision#1 - Timeslip) - Scientist Reed Richards, his girlfriend Susan Storm, her kid brother Johnny Storm, and pilot Ben Grimm snuck onto a top secret military base where they stole an experimental rocket. While Ben was opposed to the mission, he was talked into piloting the rocket by Susan Storm, whom he had a secret crush on. As Ben had feared, the rocket's shields were not enough to protect the four from cosmic radiation and they crashed back on Earth after being covered in the radiation. The others gained fantastic superhuman powers but Ben found himself transformed into a monstrous creature.
