History:

(Marvel Assistant-Sized Spectacular#1/4 (fb)) - A long time ago, the villainous Crimson King was defeated by being banished to another dimension. However, his spirit remained in the Crimson Crown, which was then locked away to prevent anyone putting it on.

(Marvel Assistant-Sized Spectacular#1/4 (fb) - BTS) - For undisclosed reasons, Archeology Jackson took his friends the Avengers on a quest to find the Crimson Crown, but left Hawkeye behind because Iron Man thought he lacked any real powers.

(Marvel Assistant-Sized Spectacular#1/4 (fb)) - Iron Man playfully but foolishly placed the Crimson Crown on Archeology Jackson's head, possessing him. Now free, the Crimson King, overpowered the Avengers and chained them up on a wall. Elsewhere, Dr. Strange received an image of the Avengers bound and went to seek Iron Man's aid.

(Marvel Assistant-Sized Spectacular#1/4 - BTS) - The Crimson King raised a small army of red skeletons.

(Marvel Assistant-Sized Spectacular#1/4) - Dr. Strange and Hawkeye traveled to the Crimson King's lair but the villain's mystical cross-dimensional energies caused the Quinjet to fall apart in mid-air. The two recovered and crept to the Crimson King's hideout, seeing also the chained Avengers. While Dr. Strange was devising an elaborate but risky strategy to overpower the Crimson King, Hawkeye fired an arrow at the Crimson King, knocking off the Crimson Crown, thereby freeing Archeology Jackson of the King's sorcerous possession and restoring the Avengers' strength.

Crimson Crown

The Crimson King's spirit lived in the Crimson Crown. When the crown was placed on a person's head, it allowed the Crimson King to possess that mortal. It had been locked away after the Crimson King had been banished but had been discovered by Archeology Jackson and the Avengers. Iron Man playfully put it on Jackson's head who was then possessed, but Hawkeye knocked it off, saving the day.
