History:
(Astonishing#4/5 (fb) - BTS) - Along with his life-long friend Roger Carlysle, Gideon Frost leached money from his wife until she died through catalepsy induced by the two men. Gideon was dismayed that his wife had not left him much money in her will, so he and Roger set up an elaborate plot. Gideon invested heavily in insurance with Roger as the beneficiary and learned self-induced hysteria, eventually deliberately having a cataleptic fit, with Roger then fraudulently declaring him dead. Gideon was then "buried" in a mausoleum near the house, which had been passed on to his niece, Diana Frost. Using an underground passage, Roger kept Gideon fed and the two planned to run off to South America together, but Diana arrived and stayed at the house. Concerned that their scheme would be found out, they hatched a new plan whereby Gideon would pretend to be a ghost to scare her away.
(Astonishing#4/5) - Diana called her insurance company, which sent Bob Grayson to investigate. Gideon slid past the window painted up as a ghost, but then promptly disappeared, with the appearance causing Diana to faint. Grayson donned his Marvel Boy outfit and followed the underground passage to the empty tomb. He rushed back into the house to find Gideon attempting to strangle Diana, but the would-be ghost was instead knocked back by Marvel Boy. Another slap removed some of the white grease-paint and the fraudulent specter stood revealed. Police officers were called in and Marvel Boy told them of his suspicions concerning Gideon, who then confessed as he was arrested and taken away.

Dr. Roger Carlysle was a life-long friend of Gideon Frost and relied on charging high fees of Mrs. Frost to secure his personal wealth. He helped Gideon Frost kill his wife, but the lower-than-expected value of the estate led to him to participate in an elaborate scheme to fake Gideon's death so that they could claim the insurance payout. As a doctor, he falsely declared Gideon to be dead but kept him fed via a secret passageway and they planned to run off to South America together. However, Diana's appearance meant the plans had to be changed. They tried to scare her away with Gideon acting as a ghost. However, Marvel Boy saw through the plan, and as the boy hero lunged at Gideon, Carlysle swung at Marvel Boy but was knocked out. He was arrested soon after on the basis of Gideon's confession.

Miss Diana Frost was Gideon Frost's niece and moved into the mansion left to her by her aunt when she heard of her uncle's apparent death. She soon asked her insurance company to investigate the specter she thought was haunting her. The investigator was Bob Grayson (Marvel Boy), who revealed the nasty plan of her uncle and Carlysle. She seemed naive and was easily scared, fainting away.
