History:
(Conan the Barbarian I#141 (fb)) - Davalte was a pirate. He led a ship and its crew, and lived by plundering villages. Some times, from among various young women kidnapped along the way, he would choose one to marry. When he was fed up with her, he would killed her or sell her off as a slave.
During an exploration of the region crossed by the river Shikri,
Davalte
had several young women kidnapped by his men. The girls'
father, Reimos, put a
curse on
Davalte and attacked him, cutting off his left hand. Vengeful,
Davalte had him tortured for seven days and seven nights before Reimos'
favorite daughter, but the old man didn't scream. When he spoke, he
only shouted again his curse. When Reimos was near death, Davalte
had him thrown into the sea.
(Conan the Barbarian I#141 (fb) - BTS) - Reimos survived, having made a pact with the dark gods of R'lyeh.
(Conan the Barbarian I#141 (fb)) - In the months after, Davalte married Theta, but their union was not a happy one. Theta found a friend and a love in Fhrank, the second-in-chief, but Davalte was always worried because of Reimos' curse.
(Conan the Barbarian I#140 (fb)) - One night, in a village tavern near the mouth of the Shikri river, Davalte had a quarrel with Sondra, a tavern girl but was interrupted by the tall barbarian, Conan. The quarrel quickly became a fight that was soon resolved with Davalte getting knocked down and humiliated. Vengeful, Davalte had Fhrank drug Conan's wine. Even unconscious, it was not easy for Bokus and Fhrank to transport the barbarian aboard the ship.
(Conan the Barbarian I#140) - Conan was chained to the big oars, but the day after he managed to kill the whip-man, Nupa. Davalte promised him painful punishment. The ship remained without supplies, so shortly after Davalte ordered they dock in one of Shikri's tributaries going south. All the crewmen and the chained prisoners began a march through the jungle. When the group saw a skeleton enveloped in webs, Droga was captured by a giant spider, but was the only one who saw it, as his fellow pirate, Pietra, fled. Later, the group attempted to cross an abyss by walking on a fallen tree, but this proved fatal for the prisoners as all but one fell with their necks broken. Only Conan survived, but Davalte ordered that they all continue the march, but stopped when they saw other sacks of webs. They were then immediately surrounded by black giant spiders.
(Conan the Barbarian I#141) - The men fought against the web-spitting beasts. Davalte felt that the spiders had something to do with Reimos. Enraged, he ran off.
(Conan the Barbarian I#141 - BTS) - The spiders, the so-called "sons of Reimos", killed Davalte and used his body as nourishment for their breed.
(Conan the Barbarian I#141) - Conan stole Davalte's belt, which was full of jewels, and set fire to Reimos' castle of demons. The spiders, enveloped in Davalte's body, chased Conan, Fhrank and Theta to the ship. There, Conan and Theta managed to escape. The spiders and Davalte's body burnt on the ship.
Comments: Created by Bruce Jones (writer) and John Buscema (art).
It's unexplained how and why Davalte found the land inhabited by Reimos and his sons. Maybe the curse unconsciously conditioned him and drew him toward Reimos.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Lupos Davalte has no known connections to
Bokus was a normal human and a member of Davalte's pirate crew. He was one of the most trusted by Davalte. He helped Fhrank transport Conan onto the ship and chained him up. He was among the group that fought the spider giants, but he did not survive.

Droga was one of Davalte's crew, a normal human. When the group met the first skeleton in the jungle, Droga understood that there had been a fight and followed the tracks in the forest. Davalte ordered him to not go and sent Pietra to take Droga back. However, too late, Droga and Pietra saw a giant spider, and Droga was enveloped by its thick web and carried away, while Pietra ran for the jungle.
--Conan the Barbarian I#141
Fhrank was the second-in-command on Davalte's ship and a very loyal crewman. Fhrank was sorry about how Davalte treated Theta, and he fell in love with her, waiting for the right moment to kill Davalte or flee with Theta. It was Fhrank who drugged Conan's wine and brought him to the ship, but he also saved Conan's life when Davalte wanted to kill the barbarian. When the crew was attacked by the spiders, Fhrank was bitten and became sicker as time passed; he didn't know it, but a spider demon was growing inside his body. He successfully made it back to the ship, but the demon had killed him and was using his body to kill Theta. Conan saved the girl and flung Fhrank away. With a horrible sound like a ripped parchment, a giant spider came out from Fhrank's back.

Nupa was the man armed with a whip who tortured the men, forcing them to row. It was Nupa who tortured the aged sorcerer Reimos with iron and fire. With his whip, Nupa welcomed Conan on the barbarian's first morning on the ship, but days later he was beaten by the barbarian, even though Conan was still bound in chains. The day after, Nupa wanted his revenge, but made a big error by going alone into the oarsmen's area. Conan strangled and killed him.

Pietra was a member of the crew. In the jungle, ordered by Davalte, Pietra went after Droga to take him back to the group. He saw a giant spider attacking Droga, but was so horrified and scared that he fled without warning the rest of the group. He was probably captured and killed by other spiders.

Sondra was a tavern girl. She met Lupos Davalte and asked him for a drink. She made the mistake of grabbing Davalte's money pouch because Davalte took her as a pickpocketing thief. She was about to be defaced by Davalte's hook when she was saved by Conan.
