History:
(Marvel Double Shot#4/1 (fb) - BTS) - Gabriel MacGregor became a successful and world-renown roboticist, and Tony Stark felt a sort of kindred spirit. Stark knew MacGregor for many years and respected his work, although they hadn't met up in four years. MacGregor continued his research into robotics and mechanics, but isolated himself from the outside world in a darkened underground lab, creating six automated robot units that would perform basic tasks for him.
(Marvel Double Shot#4/1) - Stark arrived at MacGregor's secluded mansion to have the roboticist sign over invention rights and was taken to MacGregor's lab by the robot Butler. There he was taken aback by MacGregor's muddled and manic state. Stark commented that he was impressed with Butler's design and MacGregor offered to build him one. When Stark put his briefcase down, MacGregor pushed him away, protective of his new creation that he had worked on alone for quite some time; he called "her" Iria. MacGregor signed Stark's documents then revealed Iria, whom he intended as his last creation and to keep him company. But all Stark saw was a gathering of sundry parts in a vaguely humanoid form.
(Marvel Double Shot#4/1 (fb) - BTS) - Gabriel MacGregor's suicide was reported in the newspaper.
Comments: Created by Greg Rucka (writer) and Klaus Janson (artist).
It's not revealed what Stark did after seeing MacGregor's delusionary state; hopefully he tried to provide help.
MacGregor referred to Stark as Richard Cory in reference to an 1897 poem (later adapted into a song) about a wealthy, well-educated and admired man who took his own life.
