Powers/Abilities: Siegfried Mauller was a normal human with a particularly cruel and sadistic nature.
History:
(Adventures Into Terror#4/4 (fb)) - Siegfried Mauller was the commander of a harsh concentration camp who brutally treated its prisoners with fierce torture, including mutilation, breaking bones, water torture and death by slow blood loss, at times meting out severe physical punishment.
One of the camp's inmates, dubbed simply the Professor, developed a plan to kill the oppressor, spreading rumors of a hidden torture room run by prisoners. Mauller quickly heard of the plan and demanded to know more, but was left to brood on it until he was suddenly captured by the prisoners and thrown into a small pit covered by a slab. The Professor then told him that they would torture him as he had done to the camp's inmates. Reflecting on his inhumane and excessively harsh and lethal treatment of others, he died in terror of what might befall him, believing he could never live through such torture himself.

This story was reprinted in Chamber of Chills#11/3 (July, 1974), which is where the images are from. It is presented as a flashback sequence told by the Professor.
His targets appeared to have been German academics/intellectuals who were likely opponents of Hitler's fascist regime.

Siegfried Mauller has no known connections to:
Known simply as "the Professor", he was actually a psychology student who had been rounded up into the concentration camps and had witnessed two years of Mauller's brutal command. As revenge, he masterminded the plot to overthrow and murder the Nazi torturer. He told Mauller he would be tortured in kind, although did not actually intend to do so. He watched Mauller die from his own terror.
