History:
(Daredevil I#148) - While ruminating about his horse’s loss in the race, Nose Norton was picked up by Daredevil in the street and held off a roof until Norton told him about a gathering of criminals on Pier 16. Norton rushed to warn Death-Stalker about the hero.
(Amazing Spider-Man I#231 (fb) - BTS) - Nose Norton began accepting payments from Ned Leeds to act as a criminal informant. He also became acquainted with several criminals, including Cobra (Klaus Voorhees). Nose also developed a nasty smoking habit that he kept trying to quit.
(Amazing Spider-Man I#233 (fb) - BTS) - Norton became acquainted with other reporters as well, including Ben Urich. He came across information vital to the Brand Corporation.
(Spider-Man: Venom's Wrath (fb) - BTS) - Howie the Z provided a base of operation for "Nose" Norton during the Brand Corporation debacle.
(Amazing Spider-Man I#231) - Norton met Leeds and his friend Marla Jameson at Maxie's and was paid to give them information on the Brand Corporation, which he'd earlier claimed to have info on. They headed outside, where Leeds pressured Nose to give them the information, but Nose stalled, hoping for more money and ignoring Leeds' threats of exposing him. When the Cobra wrapped around Nose, thinking Nose was informing on him, Nose stammered an explanation. Spider-Man attacked Cobra and battled him there in the alley, protecting the others from the venom bombs. Cobra fired a shot at Nose and Leeds took the shot for him (barely surviving). Nose went rushing into Maxie's, but Cobra followed him in attacking again. Spider-Man took the fight with Cobra outside and Nose went running for it.
(Amazing Spider-Man I#232 - BTS) - Leeds and Marla waited for Nose to come back and give them the information promised, but he never returned.
(Amazing Spider-Man I#233 (fb) - BTS) - Norton went into hiding, knowing the Brand Corporation would be after him.
(Amazing Spider-Man I#233) - A furious J. Jonah Jameson, employer of Leeds, offered a $1500 reward for Norton's capture, as they'd already paid Norton for the information on Brand but had never received it. After a week of being hold in up a Staten Island apartment, Nose came downstairs for a cup of coffee, keeping a gun on him for safety. The bartender quickly informed on him. In time, Ben Urich and Peter Parker showed up to collect a shocked Nose, but Tarantula, Brand's hired assassin, jumped through the window to kill him just then. Tarantula punched Urich aside, then yanked Nose out the broken window behind him. Out on the docks, Tarantula confused Nose by demanding industrial papers (seeking to confuse any bystanders). Spider-Man attacked Tarantula while Urich tried to talk to Nose, but Nose, panicking, pulled out his gun. Before he could fire, two Brand employees, claiming to be private investigators, fired on Nose first. He was soon rushed off to the hospital.
(Amazing Spider-Man I#247 (fb) - BTS) - After getting out of the hospital, Nose returned to his ramshackle apartment. He heard the news that Hobgoblin died in battle with Spider-Man. He later came across some heavy artillery and planned to sell it to Thunderball for ten thousand dollars.
(Amazing Spider-Man I#247) - Spider-Man came into Nose's place, wanting information on Hobgoblin, claiming he was still alive. When Nose couldn't get away, he told Spidey he didn't know anything and Spider-Man believed him. Nose made sure his prize possession under the bed was still safe. Later, Nose snuck into an old industrial section of town, not aware that Spider-Man was following him, planning to sell the item and later skip town. He received the money, gave them the weapon, and rushed off.
