Powers/Abilities: Part of an alien race, the "Refugee Collective" generally enjoyed being connected to its whole race through thoughts and idyllic dreams. When separated and on Earth, it gave all of humanity peaceful and happy dreams in order to form a new collective.
History:
(Defenders: From the Marvel Vault#1 (fb) - BTS) - After a planet-wide disaster of mysterious proportions, a refugee alien of its collective was set adrift and found itself on Earth, where it sought to establish a new colony and begin its society anew. It immediately ensnared all the minds on Earth with happy dreams. When the curse of Yandroth sent the Defenders (Dr. Stephen Strange, Hulk, Silver Surfer, Sub-Mariner) to it, the collective captured them individually and put them into dream states.
(Defenders: From the Marvel Vault#1) - The Defenders began living their dreams, but in a fluke, their minds were inhabited by the minds of mortal college students: Dr. Strange by Morgan Nichols, Hulk by Ramona Fischer, Silver Surfer by Jerry, and Sub-Mariner by Tyler. Tyler's unrequited love for Ramona and determination broke the Defenders out of the spell. As the Hulk and Namor fought violently, destroying much of the collective's equipment, Silver Surfer surrounded the area with the power cosmic and Strange cast an incantation that sent it back to the collective.

(Defenders: From the Marvel Vault#1) - And suddenly woke up in the body of the Silver Surfer, feeling naked and disoriented. His friends were similarly perplexed; Nichols was Dr. Strange, Tyler was Namor, and Ramona was the Hulk. After Jerry got spooked by a small mammal, Tyler wondered if the world was in danger when they all vaguely remembered that the Defenders had been cursed by Yandroth to show up at places where the world was in danger. Frustrated by all his gaming and the Red Bull in his system, Jerry rushed off on his surfboard, faulting Nichols bossiness. Jerry got a rush surfing through space and he had thoughts of showing off his powers at home, but he soon arrived in the Shi'ar Empire, where he was greeted by Shalla-Bal. He realized this wasn't his dream, but that of the Silver Surfer. He was introduced to Lilandra, who helped him remember his past alongside Galactus. Rejecting the dream, Tyler forced his mind back to reality. The students then found themselves back in their own bodies, but Tyler's actions allowed the Defenders to defeat the "Refugee Collective" and save the day.

(Defenders: From the Marvel Vault#1) - Ramona suddenly woke up in the body of the Hulk, and was confused by how little sense that made. Her friends were similarly perplexed; Tyler was Namor, Nichols was Dr. Strange, and Jerry was the Silver Surfer. After Jerry got spooked by a small mammal, Tyler wondered if the world was in danger when they all vaguely remembered that the Defenders had been cursed by Yandroth to show up at places where the world was in danger. Jerry rushed off on his surfboard, Tyler dove into the water, the mammal rushed away, and Nichols exited his body in astral form, leaving Ramona alone and wondering why Tyler had left her and what she had to do now except smash things. She decided to stop and smell the flowers when the Abomination asked her to build a sand castle on the beach with him. They were soon joined by more "friends" like Absorbing Man, Bi-Beast, Cobalt Man, Juggernaut, the Leader, Rhino, Zzzax, and others. Rejecting the dream, Tyler forced his mind back to reality. The students then found themselves back in their own bodies, but Tyler's actions allowed the Defenders to defeat the "Refugee Collective" and save the day.

His friends were similarly perplexed; Jerry was the Silver Surfer, Ramona was the Hulk, and Tyler was Namor. After Jerry got spooked by a small mammal, Tyler wondered if the world was in danger when they all vaguely remembered that the Defenders had been cursed by Yandroth to show up at places where the world was in danger. Nichols was shocked when Jerry and Tyler rushed off to explore their powers, then he exited his body in astral form. He soared through the astral plane, loving the feeling, and he chose to join Eternity in a state of bliss. Rejecting the dream, Tyler forced his mind back to reality. The students then found themselves back in their own bodies, but Tyler's actions allowed the Defenders to defeat the "Refugee Collective" and save the day.

(Defenders: From the Marvel Vault#1) - Tyler suddenly woke up in the body of Namor, and realized Ramona was the Hulk, Nichols was Dr. Strange, and Jerry was the Silver Surfer. After Jerry got spooked by a small mammal, Tyler wondered if the world was in danger when they all vaguely remembered that the Defenders had been cursed by Yandroth to show up at places where the world was in danger. After Jerry rushed off on his surfboard, Tyler dove into the water to explore his powers. As he sped through the ocean, vaguely remembering Namor's past, Tyler vowed to start working out when he got home. He was then approached by Dorma, whose name he could barely remember, inviting him to an undersea picnic. He was shocked to see that they were in an underwater New York, where the world had been conquered by Atlantis. Dorma suggested they find another way to get rid of his nervous energy. Tyler was kissing Dorma when he felt guilt over his unrequited love for Ramona. He was horrified when Dorma was seemingly killed, but he knew it couldn't be real and forced his mind back to reality. The students then found themselves back in their own bodies, but Tyler's actions allowed the Defenders to defeat the "Refugee Collective" and save the day.
