SPIDER-MAN'S CAR
Classification: Terrestrial
automobile (see comments)
Creator: Unrevealed
User/Possessors: Spider-Man (Peter
Parker)
First

(RE-EL, 1978)
Powers/Abilities/Functions: Spider-Man's car
had the same functions
as a normal automobile. Any other out of the ordinary functions were unrevealed.
History:
(Spider-Man remote control car box art) - While swinging through the city, Spider-Man noticed a group of criminals robbing a bank. As the police radioed the call in, Spider-Man jumped into his car and raced to the scene. Leaping from the moving automobile, Spider-Man made short work of the bank robbers. After webbing the robbers up for the arriving police, Spider-Man relaxed next to his automobile.

This
item was never seen in the
actual books but rather, a comic strip on the back of the box of the
1978
Spider-Man remote control car by RE-EL. As such, the story is not
entirely canon
(possibly pushing it into the extradimensional realm), but I see no
reason to say it wasn't on Earth-616. Perhaps it was the prototype
model of the Spider-Mobile before it was retooled into a dune buggy?
Spider-Man
seemed kind of
depressed in that final panel. Perhaps he was bummed at using a car
instead of just
web-swinging to the villains? I mean, he was already swinging through
the air
on patrol before he even stopped to get into the car. Maybe he was
depressed
because he didn't have a driver's license? Or maybe, if the car WAS the
prototype for the Spider-Mobile, he was down because the idea of him
having a
car was silly ... the world may never know.
Perhaps it was a (failed)
temporary endorsement by a local car dealer?

I've
included an image (right) of
the
actual toy as well, which includes the box with the comic strip on
it (thank
you, eBay!) so that one
can see how the comic strip
car was reflected in the toy.
