History:
(World of Fantasy#16/4 (fb) - BTS) - Paul Stratton was a distinguished scientist recognized in his field of microbe hunting and had developed a theory of "worlds within worlds", and searched for evidence of smaller universes from samples of sea water.
(World of Fantasy#16/4) - In his laboratory and looking over thousands of slides of samples of sea water, Paul Stratton found one that he thought indicated signs of another universe at the microscopic level. Believing he had at last found an answer to the "endless sea", he called his assistant, Terry Mason, to rush over. However, upon seeing the images on Stratton's large viewscreen, Mason was dubious of Stratton's findings, seeing only microbes. He nevertheless helped Stratton build a massive enlarging lens that measured 50 feet in diameter. Stratton placed a fresh slide and viewed it through the new lens. The image cast upon the wall from the viewer revealed what looked to be planets and suns, and Stratton emphatically declared it a new universe. Mason again felt it only showed microbes that were already known to science. Confused and tired, Stratton stumbled around his lab, smashing equipment, until he stood amidst the wreckage. Mason comforted him and suggested going to a musical to calm him down. Letting go his quest to find microscopic universes, he left the lab, but had missed seeing planets and suns with rocket-powered spaceships, even a another scientist on the microscopic Earth called Dr. Edward Stone who believed in finding macroscopic universes.
Comments: Created by uncredited writer and artist.
The microscopic universe detected by Stratton may have been a microverse (NB: not the Microverse proper).
I'm not sure why this had to be set in the future...
This tale is similar to that of Professor Dark, who also observed incredibly microscopic worlds.

Terry Mason was Stratton's assistant but was not convinced of his supervisor's discovery of microscopic worlds. He nevertheless helped in creating a giant lens to probe further, but believed that there was nothing new in the results.
