History: Super-Ego's origins are unrevealed
(Thor I#450/2 (fb) - BTS) - Per the mentally unstable High Evolutionary (apparently driven mad by witnessing the birth of a Celestial)'s speculations, due to the many disparate origins for Ego that exist, there are likely multiple Egos, all coming from a larger being, which the Evolutionary dubbed Super-Ego.
(Thor I#449/2) - Super-Ego was drawn to Ego as the latter was
in the process of being judged by a Celestial. As it approached, it encircled
Ego with one of its immense tentacles.
Seeking the High Evolutionary, Nobilus and the New
Immortals (including Zon & Juvan), along with Count Tagar, Sif and Balder (the
latter two of whom were seeking the missing Thor Odinson and speculated that
perhaps his spirit had been contained within Nobilus, who was a clone of Thor)
flew the Evolutionary's ship, the Destiny Hunt into an uncharted section of
space. There they located the High Evolutionary and his Analyzer (formerly
Recorder#211) on Ego's surface. The mentally unstable High Evolutionary made
some claim about the Celestial being bait for Super-Ego. The Evolutionary
awaited Super-Ego's arrival.
(Thor I#450/2) - Dwarfing Ego by perhaps one hundred-fold,
Super-Ego encircled Ego in its tentacles and crushed him/it, allegedly
reclaiming Ego's matter into itself.
The High Evolutionary, oblivious to the danger to himself,
was so enthralled by the Super-Ego's actions and life cycle that Sif had to
knock him out in out to get him to go with Balder when Balder used the Norn
Stones to teleport himself, Sif, Nobilus, and the Analyzer aboard the
Evolutionary's ship to escape Ego's apparent destruction.
An army of Celestials (none identifiable to me) then warped
into space and attacked the Super-Ego. The Evolutionary wished to see the
Celestials in action and to determine if there was any connection between the
Celestials and Super-Ego (such as being part of an evolutionary cycle), even if
the conflict lasted years. Wishing to continue their search for Thor, Sif and
Balder departed via the Norn Stones, leaving the Evolutionary and Nobilus in the
company of Count Tagar.
(Maximum Security: Dangerous Planet (fb) - BTS) - "Drawn into a living bio-verse and tumbling through a realm beyond imagining/comprehension, Ego escaped, but was driven mad by the experience. Ego began locating other planets, seeking to awaken their sentience, and then destroying the worlds upon finding them non-sentient and thus non-worthy.
Comments: Created by Tom DeFalco, Patrick Olliffe, and Ariane Lenshoek.
Perhaps the Stranger also created the Living Asteroids (Amazing Adult Fantasy#10 (3/62) 3rd story "No Sign Of Life"--at least 8 LIVING ASTEROIDS.
