Powers/Abilities: Zombo was a master hypnotist. He could hypnotize a person and take control of his will with a simple glance. He could easily control many people previously mind-enslaved, at the same moment, using only his voice through a loudspeaker. He was very strong, enough to exchange blows with Rockman. Zombo was also an engineer and an inventor.
History: (USA Comics#2/5) - Zombo built a secret base on an island in the Pacific Ocean. The island was far from the shipping lanes and rather difficult to discover. There, the inhuman Zombo, enslaved many people, forcing them to work for him. He created a special submarine, the most swift and deep-diving craft in the world, which he used to sink and plunder ships of any nationality.
Learning about Zombo's plans of destruction from his deep land, Rockman went to surface. He reached and sabotaged Zombo's submarine just before it sunk an American ship. The submarine emerged and Rockman immediatley hit Zombo, who understood to having met an extraordinary enemy. Zombo's hypnotic gaze had effect on Rockman, who rendered powerless was pushed into the submarine. But once he was far enough away from Zombo's mind the enslavement faded and Rockman beat the crewmen. Unable to control the enemy Zombo could only watch while Rockman apparently shouted to an invisible audience. Actually Rockman ordered to his people to mine the upper caverns that lied under the part of the sea where Zombo's submarine was. Meanwhile the two exchanged blows with each other. Zombo was ready to newly hypnotize Rockman but the incredible subterran explosion showed its effects: a huge tidal wave hit the submarine and the island, destroying everything and everybody. Zombo met his death while Rockman returned to his country.
Comments: Created by Basil Wolverton (writer and artist).
The one and only hint about Zombo's origin/classification was in the second page where Zombo is called "INHUMAN MASTER".
Zombo's slaves were not actual zombies. They lacked their willpower but they were alive. Many of them were free from his mind-control but they probably became his captives. Many of them died under the tidal wave.
