History:
(Annihilation:
Ronan#1 (fb) - BTS) - There was apparently long-standing
feuding/hostilities between the Lo-Kala and Qa-Kaba clans.
(Annihilation: Ronan#1 (fb) - BTS) - A marriage was arranged between Homma of the Lo-Kala and Metz of the Qa-Kaba, and their union was to forge a lasting bond between the two clans and signal an end to hostilities.
(Annihilation: Ronan#1 (fb) - BTS) - Tana Nile arrived on Bwokk.
(Annihilation: Ronan#1 (fb) - BTS) - Tana Nile filed her flight plan and then departed Bwokk.
(Annihilation: Ronan#1 (fb) - BTS) - Metz found Homma in bed with his shield-bearer, and -- as was his right by local law -- he executed both of them.
(Annihilation: Ronan#1 (fb) - BTS) - Exiled from the Kree planets based on information provided in testimony by Tana Nile, Ronan traveled to Bwokk in search of Tana Nile, possibly based on information from the mercenary Tullk. He docked his ship in the Central Spaceport.
(Annihilation: Ronan#1) - Outside a castle or in a market square, Nonna berated Metz for destroying any hope of reconcilation between their clans by slaying her daughter. Eventually Metz silenced Nonna with a slap to her face and then told her that no one would waste breath on her whoring daughter.
However, Ronan, who -- following the written law of Koth that stated wheresoever Kree sets foot so shall Kree law hold sway, and ignoring the fact that he had been stripped of his rank of Supreme Public Accuser -- chose to speak for the deceased Homma and named Metz as the accused. Metz tried to defend himself, but Ronan shattered Metz's sword with his Universal Weapon and then backhanded the much smaller Metz, knocking him down and out.
Ronan then dragged the unconscious Metz into what looked to be a
gladiatorial ring (or some other sort of arena), stating they were
adjourning to a setting fit for the administration of Kree law.
After Metz refused to acknowledge Ronan's authority or further plead
his case to him, Ronan sentenced Metz to trial by combat, releasing a
trio of velociraptor looking creatures for him to face with his battle
axe. The reptiles swiftly overpowered and apparently slew Metz.
His business there concluded, Ronan departed to meet with Tullk.
Soon after Ronan departed, rioting began, as all of the clan chieftains sought to fill the power vacuum left by Metz's death.
Tullk explained to Ronan the circumstances of Homma's death and noting that Metz had every right to kill both her and her lover. Ronan replied that this was irrelevent, and that justice had been done. Ronan then supplied Tullk with a disc containing the current tactical deployment of Kree beta district sentries in exchange for the flight plan Tana Nile had filed before departing Bwokk.
After Ronan left Bwokk, however, he sent an anonymous message to Kree watchtower beta district, telling them their current border configurations had been compromised, and he advised they go to default alignment-ja immediately.
As the warriors of the various clans battled, Ronan ignored the battle and proceeded toward his ship at the Central Spaceport. Though some of the warriors attempted to stop him, Ronan subdued and/or destroyed them, and then entered his ship and departed, glancing back but once to observe the fierce struggle among the people below.
Comments: Created by Simon Furman and Jorge Lucas.
We know that Ronan slew Metz 88 days after the Annihilation Wave first
invaded the positive universe, and we know that Tana Nile departed
Bwokk three rotations before Ronan slew Metz. We also know that Tana
Nile testified against Ronan 29 days after Annihilation Day, and she
traveled to Bwokk some time after that.
What we don't know is how long Metz engaged to Homma before
Ronan slew Metz, nor when Tana Nile left Bwokk in relation to Metz
slaying Homma. Given Nonna's fresh rage against Metz, I'm presuming
that Homma's death was very recent, while their marriage had been
arranged for some time.
The first time Nonna and Ronan reference Metz's clan (on pages 1 and 2), they each call him Metz of the Qa-Kabar. With the arena, they each call him Metz of the Qa-Kaba (Ronan says that twice). Given the Lo-Kala naming, it seems that Qa-Kaba would be right, but it's 3-2 in terms of naming, and the one used fewer times is the one used first...
I had originally planned a single profile for the
planet Bwokk, but despite it only using up half of a single issue,
there were a ton of images showing the environment, the various
peoples, locations, etc. When I tried to put it together, it was a
disaster image-wise, because I can't prevent the images from
overlapping, etc. So I gave Metz and Nonna their own profiles...and
then another for the "Bwokkians," the peoples and beings on Bwokk.
There may be a few such instances of image overlap anyway, but this is
much better.

This appeared to be a location for gladiatorial combat or other forms of public entertainment, but nothing was ever really explained about it.
A number of velociraptor-like creatures were kept in cages there (making gladiatorial combat seem likely).
Ronan dragged Metz here and sentenced him to trial by combat against three of the velociraptor-like creatures. They apparently slew Metz, making him guilty per Ronan's trial
--Annihilation: Ronan#1
This is the site at which Ronan docked his ship, and it seemed to serve as a central area for the battle amongst the various clans, each of whom sought to have the clan chieftain fill the void left by Metz's death.
