History:
(X-Force I#101 (fb) - BTS) - As a kid, Kevin was often bullied because
of his small size. When he discovered he was a mutant with the power of
flight, he would occasionally use this ability to show off in front of
friends and classmates.
(X-Force I#101 - BTS) - The High Evolutionary used his
scientific genius to depower all the gene active mutants on Earth. As a
result, Kevin and millions of others suddenly found themselves without
their special abilities.
(X-Force I#101) - Completely unaware he was no longer able to fly, Kevin
tried his familiar stunt the next day by jumping off the playground's
monkey bars only to fall flat on his face. Most of his classmates mocked
"Freakshow" and walked off, only fellow student Patty bothered to check
on him. Thoroughly embarrassed, Kevin dismissed her concerns and ran off
to a nearby park where he once again tried to fly by jumping off a
bench. He hit the ground once again and was spotted by Boomer (out
on a stroll to cope with the loss of her own power and the fact
Cannonball was injured when he lost his). Though Kevin was
initially dismissive, he eventually broke down crying and had a
heart-to-heart with Tabitha. Hoping it would comfort him, Smith assured
Kevin from personal experience that he was a lot better off not having
powers. Distraught over having lost the one thing that ever made him
special, he ran off again.
(X-Force I#101 - BTS) - From a nearby bush, Patty had observed the
encounter. The next day at school, Kevin announced
he planned to jump off a nearby water tower, convinced he would fly.
Concerned for his well being, Patty sought out Tabitha and warned her.
(X-Force I#101) - A crowd gathered to see Kevin jump, cheering
"Freakshow" on. Tabitha raced to reach Kevin in time, climbing the tower
and trying to talk some sense into the boy. She explained she had a
friend, Sam, who also lost his flying powers. While they were talking,
Kevin lost his balance and almost fell off the tower. Tabitha grabbed
him in time and succeeded in talking him down. By then, the crowd had
dispersed, annoyed there wouldn't be a show. The following night, still
without his powers, Kevin once again sat on the monkey bars, dreaming of
flying.

In all likelihood, Kevin regained his powers after the
X-Men fought and defeated the High Evolutionary in X-Men
II#99. His fate following M-Day remains unrevealed.
