History:
(Thor the Mighty Avenger#6 (fb) - BTS) - Namor was a war hero (likely World War 2).
(Thor the Mighty Avenger#5 (fb) - BTS) - Namor sometimes came into conflict with his kingdom.
(Thor the Mighty Avenger#5) - Thor took Jane Foster to see many of Earth's wonders, stopping by the Great Barrier Reef in northeast Australia. There he found Namor struggling to control the massive sea creature Monstro and steer it away from inhabited areas. Thor tried to help, but was instead thrown into the water by Namor, who then showed remorse and chose to save Thor over stopping Monstro. Namor and Thor fought off hungry Carrion sea creatures before boarding Thor's chariot for safety. They saw Monstro heading for a passenger liner. Namor directed Thor to hurl his hammer at Monstro, which caused the creature to fall backward; Thor fell in the water as well. Later, with the sun setting and Foster still waiting for Thor on a nearby beach, Namor prepared a roasted fish for her to eat while keeping an eye out. Thor finally resurfaced and Namor spoke with him on equal terms. Namor also offered advice to Thor, suggested humility from a ruler and to accept Jane Foster's guidance. Thor left and Namor hoped they would meet again.

Monstro was a giant seaborne creature inhabiting the deep Pacific Ocean. However, it was forced to leave the depths due to oil drilling. It traveled on a rampage into Australia's Great Barrier Reef, where Namor had successfully bridled it but struggled to control it. When Monstro threatened a passing ocean liner, Namor had Thor hit it between the eyes with with his hammer and Monstro fell unconscious into the sea. Later, Namor said he would find it a new home.
Monstro appeared to be able to breathe above and below the sea.
