History:
(Exiles I#12 (fb) - BTS) - David Richards was the son of Franklin Richards and his wife Rachel Summers-Grey, born on Earth-2600, a world where the Sentinels actively hunted mutantkind. By the time he was 10, David was an orphan stuck in a Sentinel-guarded camp for preteen mutants. His existence was noticed by the Time-Breakers who got worried when they realized the child would grow up to be his reality's most powerful mutant, easily able to take over the world. They decided the best thing for Earth-2600 was killing the boy before that could happen. In order to achieve this gruesome task, they assigned both the Exiles and the far more ruthless Weapon X squad to the mission.
(Exiles I#12) - Unaware of the true nature of their
mission, the Exiles and Weapon X teamed up to save David from the camp.
Once they realized there were only children there, Blink decided to take
all of David's friends as well. Once they'd returned safely to their
makeshift camp, the Tallus revealed to teamleaders Sabretooth and Blink
(both native to Earth-295) what David's final fate needed to be.
(Exiles I#13) - Once Blink accidentally revealed what the Tallus had
told her, the Weapon X team was ready to kill David just so they could
continue their mission. Sabretooth and the Exiles refused to murder an
innocent boy in cold blood, no matter what he might potentially do in
the future. Relying on an old combat tactic from their native reality,
Blink and Sabretooth managed to teleport David, his friends and the
Exiles away before Weapon X could stop them. Before being teleported
away, Sabretooth also killed his teammate Deadpool who was about to
shoot David. He was quickly replaced by an alternate reality Iron Man
who joined Weapon X in searching for David and the others. The Exiles
were met by an annoyed Timebroker (a hologram used by the Time-Breakers
to communicate with their recruits). He simply announced Weapon X had
already located them and were moving in, courtesy of the Vision tracing
Blink's energy signature. The Exiles decided they had no choice but to
fight Weapon X, but their engagement was interrupted by the arrival of
advanced Nimrod class Sentinels sent to kill everyone. Blink succesfully
teleported David, his friends and both teams of extradimensional
travellers safely out of the Sentinels' reach. Once they were in the
clear, Sabretooth struck a deal with the Timebroker: he would stay
behind to raise and teach David and the other children, hopefully
preventing the dystopian future they'd been warned about without killing
an innocent boy. (Exiles I#59 (fb) ) - Sabretooth soon realized time moved
far quicker on Earth-2600 than in most other realities. Within a few
months, from his perspective, David and the others had aged several
years. David was taught by Sabretooth, who began to regard the
ambitious, inventive boy as his own son. When his powers manifested
themselves during puberty, David became the most powerful of all his
friends. Finally able to strike back after ten years of constant hiding,
Richards led his friends in a successful, decade long assault against the
Sentinels and their human masters. As his abilities grew, so did his
less favorable traits: arrogance, cruelty and paranoia.
(Exiles I#59 (fb) ) - When Blink appeared out of nowhere on Earth-2600 on the eve of the mutants' final assault on the last Sentinel node in North America, Sabretooth was overjoyed to see her. David, however, suspected she was a spy and forced his way into Clarice's mind to see if his suspicions were warranted. When she turned out to be who she said she was, he allowed her to help fight the final conflict. David used his telepathy to mind-link all the mutants to make their assault as effective as possible. At the same time, he took on and destroyed 84 Sentinels single-handedly. Even though the robots were defeated, he announced that the Earth was diseased and the Sentinels had been merely a symptom. Forcibly shoving his surrogate father Sabretooth aside, David took control of Blink and made her teleport the two of them into the Strategic Sentinel Command bunker. There, he forced her to use her teleportation powers to brutally maim, murder and defile those responsible for the Sentinels' actions in preparation for killing every last remaining human on Earth. (Exiles I#59 (fb) - BTS) - The brutalities lasted for several days, with Blink teleporting her victims into walls, each other and worse until Sabretooth was able to track his two surrogate children down. Wearing a modified inhibitor collar, Sabretooth infiltrated the bunker undetected and rapidly ripped David's heart out before he could make good on his threat. Comments: Created by Judd Winick (writer), Mike
McKone (pencils), Jon Holdredge (inks). Given his pedigree (and hair color) it's not that big a
stretch David might have been an heir to the Phoenix Force. It would
certainly explain why he manifested a Phoenix raptor when using his
powers. Still, he's essentially his reality's Hyperstorm
and a scarring reminder that while power corrupts, absolute power
corrupts absolutely. Thanks to Loki for additional images and a few changes. Profile by Norvo. CLARIFICATIONS: images: (without ads) Appearances:

(Exiles I#59 (fb) - BTS) - David eventually located Strategic Sentinel
Command, the human run nerve center of the robots' operations. He
decided to trap them in the underground bunker they thought would be a safe
haven.
