History:

(Uncanny X-Men I#155 (fb) - BTS) - Hoping to take out her sister Lilandra and establish herself as the ruler of the Shi'ar, Deathbird struck an alliance with the Brood. Lilandra was kidnapped and taken to Earth, which Deathbird hoped would lead to the Shi'ar military to either devastate or blow up the world and the heroes that had humiliated her on numerous occassions. Skur'kll was one of several Brood warriors assigned to Deathbird as they travelled to New York and waited to spring a trap on Lilandra's lover Charles Xavier and his X-Men.

(Uncanny X-Men I#155) - Hiding out on a construction site across Madison Avenue, Skur'kll and Deathbird spotted Storm and Corsair walking by. Skur'kll targeted them with his Psi-Scream weapon, but made a point to Deathbird about it being a shame to waste such "prime specimens" who might well be "fit for the mother-of-us-all". Deathbird reminded him they were too dangerous and perhaps even a match for his precious "mother". This angered the proud Skur'kll who told Deathbird that even though they were allies, "we of the blood" do not tolerate disrespect. Deathbird ignored his threats and told him to fire, which he did. The Psi-Beam warped Storm and Corsair's minds, making them believe they were actually each other's worst enemies. The two started tearing each other apart, leading Professor Xavier, the X-Men and the Avenger Tigra to try and stop them while fighting off Deathbird. Still up on the rafters of the construction site, Skur'kll spotted Xavier and figured the "crippled mammal" was their leader. Fascinated to find out what effect the Psi-Scream would have on a telepath, he prepared to target the professor. However, Wolverine had spotted him and had managed to quietly sneak up beside him. After a brief, one sided fight Skur'kll was slain, his Psi-Scream weapon tossed down.

(Uncanny X-Men I#155 - BTS) - Moments after he died, Skur'kll's body disintegrated.

Comments: Created by Chris Claremont (writer), Dave Cockrum (pencils), Bob Wiacek (inks).

Let's have a hand for Skr'kll, the first ever Brood to appear in a Marvel comic. Considering how big a threat the Brood would become in the months to follow, it's a testament to Claremont's strength as a writer that he managed to introduce this new archenemy as little more than a mercenary working for Deathbird, in those days little more than a C-list Ms. Marvel villain... Well, on a good day.
