History:

(Real Heroes#4 (fb) - BTS) - The mutant teen's mother died of cancer caused by her addiction to cigarettes. He decided to revenge his mother's death by taking down every place where she bought cigarettes.

(Real Heroes#4) - The teen, out for vengeance, visited the Corner Convention Store. He asked for a package of Puffins cigarettes and got really angry when the salesman didn't even ask him for an ID card. When the man told him that it was not his problem if the youth smoked, the angry teen lashed out with his electricity-based powers. He caused massive destruction and a fire, then left.

(Real Heroes#4 - BTS) - He moved to his next target, a deli nearby, and caused another fire and chaos.

(Real Heroes#4) - Spider-Man arrived to save people from the fire and had a run-in with "Smoke Out" in the deli at the bottom of the burning building. "Smoke Out" told Spider-Man that his problem were nicotine, tar and carcinogens, which killed his mother because she got addicted to cigarettes. Spider-Man couldn't knock the kid out and soon realized that the teen was too powerful for him to handle.

Coincidentally Firestar, Human Torch and Iron Man arrived on the scene and while Firestar and Human Torch took care of the fires and the people in danger, Spider-Man and Iron Man tried to stop "Smoke Out" downstairs in the deli. "Smoke Out" blasted Iron Man out of the building then nearly knocked out Spider-Man. Iron Man returned and calmed down the boy a bit by telling him about his own problems with addiction (alcoholism), then Spider-Man rejoined and told the boy how he had to help an important woman in his life to quit smoking (Mary Jane Watson) and that the supplier can't always be blamed. Calmed down, "Smoke Out" still thought it was not fair that his mother had died, but he understood that violence was the wrong way and that he was just angry and wanted to do something. "Smoke Out" was then arrested and taken away by the police.

Comments: Created by Evan Skolnick (writer) & Tom Morgan (artist).

Real Heroes was a four-part series published in association with Pizza Hut. Each issue included a card picturing the heroes of the respective issue (Firestar, Human Torch, Iron Man & Spider-Man for this issue). On the back the theme of the issue is identified (substance abuse in #4) and each hero received a trait he was known by....Spider-Man = Responsibility. Each issue was 16 pages long!

"Smoke Out" was never named in the comic, but he had been called "Smoke Out" for a few years now on the site, so I went with it.

I can picture "Smoke Out" taking on Smokescreen....they are arch-enemies by nature.

There was no explanation given for his white hair, but maybe channeling all the electricity destroyed the pigmentation in his hair follicles.

BTW I hate smoking!
