Treemont aged at a tremendous pace, appearing in his early 90s when chronologically he was merely 41. His enhanced age made him vulnerable to a variety of chronic diseases like cancers, heart conditions and arthritis. His second mutant ability rendered him immune to any and all medication, which caused him to suffer in agony. When he wasn't yet infirm, Treemont was a gifted chef and a talented businessman, earning millions as Chef Jay-R-Tee, the man and face behind a popular brand of canned pasta.

History:

(Uncanny X-Men I#408 (fb) ) - Jason Treemont grew up in Texas with his friend Fred Dukes. While Dukes, even before his mutation, was always up to no good, Treemont walked the straight and narrow and studied to become a chef. As the lives of the two old friends and school pals took different paths, Jason couldn't help but feel bad for Freddie ending up on the wrong side of the law as the mutant terrorist known as the Blob.  Despite his own debilitating mutations, Treemont launched Chef Jay-R-Tee's, a canned pasta company that over the years grew into a multimillion dollar food empire.

(Uncanny X-Men I#408 (fb) - BTS) - When his condition worsened and he became bed ridden, riddled with cancer and other age related illnesses, Treemont learned of the existence of the X-Ranch, and Stacy X (Miranda Leevald). Through unknown channels, he had arrangements made for Stacy's services.

(Uncanny X-Men I#408 - BTS) - Unbeknownst to Treemont, Stacy X had recently joined the X-Men. Stacy's teammate Angel wasn't too thrilled when he learned she was still moonlighting as a prostitute in between missions. While Stacy defended her activities, she started to doubt the validity of her work. These doubts increased even more when Wolverine assured her the only way for people not to treat her like a whore, was to stop acting like one.

(Uncanny X-Men I#408) - Despite all the negative encouragements, Stacy still decided to honor her eleven o'clock appointment with Treemont. She met her infirm, old client lying in a hospital bed in the fancy bedroom of his luxurious New York skyscraper appartment and quickly realized who he was: Chef Jay-R-Tee's, responsible for her favorite food as a child. After getting paid, she was about to start her work when Treemont explained he wasn't looking for pleasure, but relief. Stacy was startled to learn of Treemont's past and the curse of his mutations that were killing him with no possibility for pain relief through common medicinal means.

Begging for her help with tears in his eyes, Stacy finally gave in and started a four hour session focussing on hyperstimulating Treemont's pleasure centers so he wouldn't feel a thing. Treemont slipped into an ecstatic comatose state, with a content smile on his face just as Wolverine, Iceman and Chamber arrived to check in on their wayward teammate.

Stacy explained that she had given Treemont enough stimulation to keep him sedated for months, figuring he would die of natural causes long before the effects of her handiwork wore off. The X-Men complimented Stacy on her mission of mercy and left Jason Treemont to finally rest in peace before he died.

Despite the fact that this is a nice, off beat done in one story that showcased Stacy X was more than merely a good time girl ready and willing to service all comers and goers... it would be interesting to see if Treemont did indeed pass away. Considering he still had months to live, it's not unthinkable he was still around during M-Day. If he'd lost his powers during that event, wouldn't he have woken up a thoroughly content, normal, healthy 41 year old man?

Speaking of 41: If Treemont and Blob knew each other as kids in school, the rotund villain should be in his late 30s, early 40s as well. Guess being a bit puffy helps to hide those little wrinkles and crow's feet.

It goes without saying that "Chef Jay-R-Tee" is a thinly veiled reference to Chef Boyardee, the American canned soups and pasta mogul that prominently advertised in many Marvel comics during the mid to late 90s.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Jason Treemont should not be confused with

Chef Jay-R-Tee's Pasta

After finishing cooking school, Jason Treemont eventually went into the business of food. Coming up with several low cost, yet tasty types of canned Italian food, Treemont dreamed up the persona of Chef Jay-R-Tee to effectively market his products. This stereotype of a good natured, moustached and well fed Italian chef helped consumers identify with Treemont's mass produced, mechanically prepared pastas. As a child, Stacy X (Miranda Leevald) grew up poor and ate Jay-R-Tee's Noodle-Oo's pasta variety every day. Because of the warm memories she associated with the food and the brand name, the pheromone controlling mutant prostitute made sure Treemont's final days on Earth were spent without pain.
