History: (Ghost Rider III#56 (fb) - BTS) - After Lt. Sokolowski took over the special police task force known as the Team, the Team began diversifying and doing a lot of good. Sean Tully was a member of the Team.
(Ghost Rider III#56) - Stacy Dolan visited the Team as Sean Tully and the other members got ready for a mission in Chinatown. Lt. Sokolowski asked Stacy if she had thought anymore about joining the Team but she replied that she still had more to talk over. Sokolowski offered for Stacy to accompany Tully and the others into Chinatown on their mission but demanded that she have an answer for him by the end of the night. Sean and the other Team members then departed for Chinatown and shortly thereafter arrived in Chinatown, where they found the mercenaries Next Wave and the Posse. Following a large explosion, the Team assumed Next Wave to be responsible and a firefight ensued, with Sokolowski attempting to call in Code: Blue for backup. When Ghost Rider showed up as well, Sokolowski ordered the Team to eliminate the unidentified mercenaries (Posse) since they had the high ground, reminding the Team that they could focus on Ghost Rider once their position was more secure. Sokolowski became confused when Ghost Rider dropped into the middle of the Team and warned Stacy to leave the area for her own safety. Sokolowski was interrupted by a Posse member falling from a nearby rooftop. Ghost Rider and the newly arriving Shriker then took the fight directly to the Posse while Sean Tully and the other Team members retreated. While Stacy, Sean and the Team were retreating, Next Wave's Turk dropped a bomb, prompting Ghost Rider to order Shriker to get Stacy and the Team to safety while he took care of the bomb. After the bomb exploded with Ghost Rider, Stacy suspected Ghost Rider would return and agreed to join the Team to stop him.
(Ghost Rider III#57) - Sean and the other Team
members watched as police scoured the river for signs of Ghost Rider or
the Next Wave. Nick Fury of SHIELD soon appeared and offered Sokolowski
the chance to have the Team train with SHIELD. Sokolowski was shortly
thereafter interrupted by a police dispatch call that ordered the Team
to proceed to the newly-found Next Wave's location despite Sokolowski's
insistence that they were to be going after Ghost Rider. Sokolowski
then ordered Sean and the others to the Next Wave's location and when
they arrived, Ghost Rider was already battling the Next Wave and the Posse with the
X-Man Wolverine. The Team then watched as the two heroes defeated the
Next Wave and escaped police. Following the battle, Sokolowski agreed
to let Nick Fury and SHIELD train Sean and the other Team members.
(Ghost Rider III#58 (fb) - BTS) - Working with SHIELD, Sean Tully trained for sixteen hours a day alongside the other Team agents while an unidentified government group led by the Spook fit the bill.
(Ghost Rider III#58) - One week into the training, Sean participated in another training exercise with the other Team agents. When the exercise ended, Nick Fury came in to chew out the Team agents, adding pressure to the already stressed Stacy Dolan. Two weeks later, Tully joined the Team agents for another training exercise. During the exercise, Nick Fury argued with the Spook and eventually cut that particular training exercise short to inform the Team that the Spook had brought them new weapons to test. A week later, Sean Tully and the other Team agents watched as Stacy Dolan managed to successfully the Spook's new weaponry after several misfires that injured Team agent Tempest. Following another week of training, Sean and the other Team agents were given a temporary, run-down headquarters, which was given the name Heaven. Tully immediately complained at how run-down Heaven was, prompting Stacy Dolan to immediate tell Tully to can it. Agreeing with Tully that Heaven could use some sprucing up, Team Lt. Sokolowski ordered Stacy and Tully to clean the place spotless, giving them two days to accomplish the task. Annoyed, Stacy elbowed Sean in the stomach. Tully later accompanied the Team as they tested out a SHIELD. aircraft. During the test, Tempest picked up a signal on Ghost Rider and Lt. Sokolowski ordered Tempest to get the Team to Ghost Rider's location. Engaging Ghost Rider and forcing him to flee into the sewers, the Team exited the SHIELD aircraft and Sean watched as Lt. Sokolowski ordered the Team to hold their breaths and pursue Ghost Rider.
(Ghost Rider III#59) - Sean Tully sat and watched as the NYPD commissioner chewed out the Team's Lt. Sokolowski for having not yet apprehended Ghost Rider. Later, upon hearing that an NYPD SWAT team had entered the sewers to search for Ghost Rider, Lt. Sokolowski ordered the Team to get to the sewers before the SWAT team was killed. Arriving above the sewer entrance, Sean Tully sarcastically commented how nice it was that Stacy Dolan had joined them, as he would hate to go hopping around the sewers without the pleasure of her company. Sokolowski promptly ordered both Tully and Dolan to shut up as he explained their mission to get to Ghost Rider before the SWAT team did. Venturing into the sewers, the Team found the SWAT team as they prepared to fire but Sokolowski demanded they hold their fire. Following a brief argument between Sokolowski and the SWAT team's captain, the SWAT team fired, hitting Dan Ketch in the leg before Ketch escaped above ground.
(Ghost Rider III#60) - Returning to Heaven,
Sokolowski ordered the Team agents to call it a night, get some rest,
keep their pagers on and their weapons nearby. Commenting on how Dolan
looked exhausted, Sean Tully insisted on driving her home, mentioning
that she could pay him back some other time. Later, at Dolan's Cypress
Hills home, Stacy Dolan cooked a meal for both herself and Tully, who
commented that Dolan looked like she was carrying the weight of the
world on her shoulders and offered his friendship and possibly more.
Dolan quickly reminded Tully that she was not interested in dating him
but thanked him for attention and his jokes. Tully lightheartedly
commented that he couldn't let a day go by without making a pass at
someone and that he would always be there for her as a friend. The two
then watched "Dragon Ball Z" on television and Dolan attempted to
discuss how Tully ended up with the Team. Their conversation was
interrupted by the arrival of Dan Ketch, whom Stacy introduced to Sean
Tully before Dan and Stacy went to the kitchen for a private
conversation. Thinking to himself how he really didn't want to be in
the middle of some spat between Stacy and her ex-boyfriend Dan, Tully
soon overheard Dan transforming into Ghost Rider. Rushing into the
kitchen, Tully was surprised to see the Ghost Rider and immediately
pulled his weapon on Ghost Rider. Ghost Rider tackled Tully and the two
fought while Sean ordered Stacy to call for backup. Fighting for
dominance of Dan Ketch's form, the maddened Ghost Rider became
determined to destroy the weapon wielded by Sean Tully. Using his chain
to destroy the weapon, Ghost Rider accidentally caused the gun to
misfire and kill Sean Tully. Seeing that he had killed an innocent,
Ghost Rider fled while Stacy cradled the dying Sean, who, with his
dying breaths, asked Stacy to put a shot between Ghost Rider's eyes for
him and thanked her for dinner.
Comments: Created by Howard Mackie, Salvador Larroca and Sergio Melia.
It was not revealed if Sean Tully was a member of the
team prior to Lt. Sokolowski taking it over from Michael Badalino. If
so, it is possible that he would be behind-the-scenes during those
earlier appearances but since there has been nothing to definitively
state that he was present in the earlier Team appearances, I chose the
include only the confirmed appearances of Sean Tully in this profile.
