Persuader was a device
built to extract information from a victim's brain by using the
device's
headgear to extract every piece of knowledge from the victim's brain.
History:
(Avengers
I#76) - When captured
Earth physicists refused to help, the Polemachus native Old One
suggested to
Arkon that there was but one other way to get the information they
sought.
Knowing that the Old One meant the Ultimate Persuader, Arkon announced
that it
would be used and he soon visited the Polemachan dungeons to retrieve
one nuclear physicist. Hooking the physicist up to the Ultimate
Persuader, Arkon
explained its functions to the other physicists and left the Old One to
extract
the information needed. Some time later, Arkon returned and asked the
Old One
if he was able to extract the information needed to construct a nuclear
device.
The Old One replied that he had and revealed the Atom-Sphere he had
constructed
using the physicist’s knowledge.

While
only appearing in Avengers
I#76, it's very possible that the Ultimate Persuader is
behind-the-scenes
somewhere in every appearance of Polemachus, as it was not destroyed...
