History:
(Exiles I#20 (fb)) - Earth-8545 was plagued by the Legacy virus an epidemic that already claimed millions of mutants before it mutated and started killing humans with latent mutations or even the slightest trace of mutant DNA. Hundred of thousands died in the process.
(Exiles I#20 (fb) ) - When the young mutant Cypher (Doug Ramsey) contracted the virus, the techno organic creature known as Warlock tried to save his best friend's life by bonding with him. By combining their life forces, Warlock hoped his alien nature would rid Cypher's system of the virus. However, the infection mutated upon encountering Warlock's bio-circuitry and became a new, virulent strain that could now target any and all forms of organic life. While this new Legacy virus wasn't lethal, it did turn most of the infected into zombie- like techno-organic creatures out to consume life energy. A select group of infected, the strongest metahumans on Earth, retained their senses but were now intent to become the dominant species on the planet. Calling themselves the Vi-Locks, they started their campaign of conquest from their headquarters called the Mainframe. There, the Vi-Locks were controlled by a ruling body that called themselves the Primes.
(Exiles I#21 (fb) - BTS) - The mutant inventor Forge surfaced as the Vi-Locks' leader from the early days on.
(Exiles I#20 (fb) - BTS) - The Vi-Locks' attempts to infect humanity led to an event called the Prime War. At the end of this conflict, they had infected seventy percent of the population, leaving only small factions of humans to fight for survival. Among them were the Avengers, led by Hank Pym and hiding in one of the last free human cities Las Vegas. To keep the Vi-Locks away from Vegas and the handful of other uninfected cities, a series of disruptors were constructed (probably with help of the Avengers).
(Exiles I#22) - The Primes began stockpiling nuclear armaments. Most likely in fear of humans getting a hold of them, the Primes did not dismantle them.
(Defenders II#1 - BTS) - While tapped into the powers of the Earth goddess Gaea, the magician Yandroth unleashed a variety of menaces to Earth. Among them were a group of Vi-Locks he teleported to Ireland. Other invading forces included the Negative Zone Borers, the Mindless Ones, the Tribbites, Dark-Crawler, Quasimodo, Warlord Kaa and his Shadow-Warriors, the Living Erasers, the Stonians, Gorgilla and the Microverse native Lizard Men of Tok.
(Civil War: Battle Damage Report#1 - BTS) - While in Ireland, the techno-organic creatures wrought havoc and were confronted by the premiere Irish superhero team the Kinsmen. Despite the teams best effort a few people including Amy Jo Bessolo the wife of superhero Lectronn were transformed into Vi-Locks themselves. After the newly assembled Defenders had defeated Yandroth, the Vi-Locks and all the other threats automatically were returned from whence they came, Amy Jo Bessolo and the other humans who were turned vanished with the originals to Earth-8545.
(Exiles I#20) - When a group of children were hunting lizards outside the Vegas disruptor shield perimeter, they were attacked by a group of Vi-Locks. Deciding to decapitate the children and leave their bodies as a warning for the other humans, they were stopped by the arrival of the Exiles. The group of reality hopping heroes easily defeated the three Vi-Locks, but were forced to flee when they spotted the approach of a horde of the techno-organic zombies. The Exiles had been sent to Earth-8545 to rescue Cypher/Warlock from the Prime's headquarters the Mainframe, which led them to team up with the Avengers. Together, they figured that rescuing Cypher/Warlock could possibly help them create a vaccine to cure humanity.
(Exiles I#21) - Splitting everyone up in alpha and beta teams, the heroes started to plan their attack. Team Alpha (Blink, Havok, Nocturne and Spider-Woman) were purposefully infected with a small dose of the virus to allow them to infiltrate the Mainframe without being detected immediately. The Beta team then created a diversion by attacking the Vi-Locks, buying the Alphas time to complete their mission. While searching the containment chamber within the Mainframe, team Alpha was discovered by the Vi-Lock's leader Forge. By infecting Blink, Forge gained all her knowledge and learned the true purpose of the heroes' mission. Intent on preventing the creation of a cure, Forge destroyed Cypher. With her last ounce of will power, Blink then teleported both alpha and beta teams back to Vegas. There, the Tallus informed them that following Cypher's demise, the only solution to stop the Vi-Locks was destroying the Earth.
(Exiles I#22) - Agreeing with the Tallus that they could
only save the planet by destroying it, the Avengers started to plan a
way to destroy Earth. The Exile Mimic piloted one the Avengers' Warbird
jets, loaded with nuclear devices towards the Mainframe.
(Exiles I#22 - BTS) - Morph, not happy about destroying an entire world, suddenly realized that despite its many similar heroes, there weren't any Asgardians in the superhero community. In fact, the Avengers hadn't even heard of them yet. Figuring they might be able to enlist the aid of Asgard, the Exiles and the Avengers succesfully managed to communicate with the real eternal. The gods of Asgard appeared on Earth and it quickly became apparent their blood was resistant to the Vi-Lock virus and could serve as a cure. However, the Avenger Rachel Summer was unable to reach Mimic telepathically to get him to call off the attack.
(Exiles I#22) - Unable to contact Mimic, the Avengers decided they needed the help of the Vi-Locks to stop armageddon. Spider-Woman of the Avengers contacted Forge and informed him of the situation. Forge sent some of his Vi-Locks to stop the jet, but the still clueless Mimic managed to defeat them. At the last possible moment, Blink (now all cured because of the vaccine) teleported in and told her lover of the news. They set the jet to fly up into the atmosphere where it could do little harm when it exploded. They blinked back to Las Vegas where they rejoined the other Exiles into celebrating another successful mission.
(Exiles I#34 (fb) - BTS) - The Avengers managed to cure most of the Vi-Locks with the Asgardian vaccine. However small pockets of Vi-Locks remained active on Earth.
(Exiles I#34) - Several weeks after the vaccine was created Sunfire and Nocturne ended up back on Earth-8545 following a reality jump that went awry. Within minutes they where attacked by Vi-Locks. Sunfire managed to destroy them with her fire blasts. Both heroes returned to the Avengers compound in Las Vegas and learned that most of the Earth had returned to normal, with only a small number of Vi-Locks remaining.
(Exiles: Days of Then & Now#1 (fb)) - Avengers squad leader Power Fist (Luke Cage) took Spider-Woman and Sunfire to clear out a Vi-Lock nest in Montana. Though the mission was supposed to be relatively routine, they were surprised to encounter several infected Omega class Vi-Locks once they arrived, including Colossus, who knocked out Cage after which another Vi-Lock started to infect him. In a desperate move to save him, Sunfire unleashed an intense flame blast that vaporized the Vi-Locks and saved Cage. During the Quintet ride home, the naked, still smoking Cage was swearing up a storm much to the girl's delight.
(Exiles I#78) - The Vi-Locks incident was listed among the team's epic battles when the Exiles were forced to defend themselves in a court case held by the Squadron Supreme of Earth-712 (who had been tricked by Proteus into believing the Exiles were criminals chasing him across realities).
(Exiles: Days of Then & Now I#1 (fb) - BTS ) - It took the Avengers a year to stamp out the last of the Vi-Locks. During that time, they lost several members including Daredevil (Matt Murdock) who was buried in the same desert burial ground as Sunfire. Over time, the place was refurbished and became known as Remembrance Park.

According to the Tallus, the Primes would retaliate for the invasion on Mainframe. Within a month they would launch an all-out attack on the remaining humans on Earth, after which they would be ready to enter space, to assimilate the rest of the universe. Within a thousand years, the Vi-Locks would be the only lifeforms within the universe.
The Lectronn profile in Civil War: Battle Damage Report#1 retconned the Vi-Locks into having appeared in Defenders II#1 as behind the scenes.
Following the Asgardian cure, Lectronn's wife Amy Jo Bessolo would probably have been returned to normal, even though she's likely still caught on Earth-8545.
Another nest of Vi-Locks was seen in Exiles: Days of Then & Now#1 which saw the first appearance of Colossus, other Vi-Locks where Daredevil, Hulk, Moon Knight and Wolverine (they had apparently managed to escape the Exiles and Avengers from being cured). It also looked as Captain America and Thor where part of the Vi-Locks, but I think this is most likely a faulty coloring in the books. However, Captain America could of course have been re-infected again between the pages. As for Thor, his and all Asgardian blood was resistant to the Vi-Lock virus, thus further proofing it was an error in the coloring. Besides these character it also appears as if Iron Man was there, infected or normal is unclear. Another person taking cover during the battle bears a resembling to Songbird.
It has not been revealed if Spider-Man was still a Vi-Lock when he was seen during Spider-Verse. It’s possible that due to his long time infection he remained his Vi-Lock appearance but still had a mind of his own. Earth-8545's Spider-Man was also seen as a beheaded head on the wall on the cover of Amazing Spider-Man III#12.
Thanks to Brandon Nash for correcting the name of Lectronn's former wife Mary Jo Bessolo.
