THE BATTLE OF NEVER HILLS

Instigator: Doctor Doom (from behind-the-scenes, using a Doombot in his place)

History: (Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#5 (fb)) - Sir Isaac Newton traveled to the timeless Dark Dimension's Never Hills area seeking the Dark Dimension being Jowath in his secret quest to learn more about and locate the Word of God tome. While there, Newton found that Jowath was under attack by some sort of madman, which Newton did not recognize as a Latverian Doombot. Summoning a group of the Dark Dimension's Walking Death Gardens to assist against the madman, Newton was annoyed when modern era sorcerers Dr. Strange and Clea arrived seeking mushrooms for a spell. Newton's Walking Death Gardens quickly attacked the two sorcerers and Clea banished the creatures, leaving Newton to introduce himself and suggest Strange and Clea assist against the madman instead. After Newton explained the situation and showed Strange and Clea what the "madman" had done to the Never Hills, Dr. Strange immediately recognized the landscape as resembling the work of Latverian monarch Doctor Doom, who had seemingly transformed the Never Hills as he sought information from Jowath himself. Agreeing to assist Newton to restore the Never Hills, Strange and Clea accompanied Newton into the Battle of Never Hills.

(Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Sorcerer Supreme Dr. Strange continued to wor with Sir Isaac Newton during the Battle of Never Hills, noticing that Newton tended to be less than helpful.



(Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#5 (fb)) - Newton led Dr. Strange and Clea towards a citadel resembling Dr. Doom's face and the trio was immediately attacked by an army of Doombots. During the battle, Dr. Strange questioned what knowledge Newton sought from Jowath and Newton claimed that he was chasing a fairy tale and the sight of such formidable foes made him question if the fairy tale was true after all. After Newton commended Dr. Strange on the feisty nature of his "assistant" Clea, the trio fought for days in the timeless Dark Dimension and as they got closer to Doom's citadel, Newton began to hope that the stories he had heard about the Word of God tome were real. When they finally arrived mere feet from the citadel, Clea announced that she would hold off the Doombots to allow both Dr. Strange and Isaac Newton to project their astral forms into the citadel. Once inside, Strange and Newton found "Doctor Doom" forcing the captive Jowath to copy down spells from the Word of God. Realizing this "Doctor Doom" was yet another Doombot, Dr. Strange took care of the Doombot while Newton freed Jowath. Upon being freed, Jowath cast a spell from the Word of God that destroyed all of the Doombots then died, whispering "No more words." At Jowath's funeral, Strange admitted he had never heard the magic Jowath used and asked Newton if that was what he was seeking from Jowath but Newton claimed he was seeking a magical mace to help destroy an inter-dimensional para-squid. Strange then began instructing Newton how to destroy the para-squid but Newton ignored Strange and walked off, with Clea calling Newton a creep. Clea then suggested Strange and herself finish their earlier mushroom hunting and leave Newton be, unaware that Newton had acquired the head of the destroyed lead Doombot in hopes of recreating Jowath's spell.

(Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#1 - BTS) - When both Strange and Newton were later recruited by Camelot sorcerer Merlin to battle the Forgotten, Strange arrived to see Newton, remarking on how he hadn't seen Newton since the Battle of Never Hills and that Newton seemed as "helpful" as always.

The Battle of Never Hills was originally not seen, only mentioned by Dr. Strange as something he had been involved in alongside Sir Isaac Newton. We finally got a flashback to the events in Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#5.
