History:
(Spidey Super Stories#57/3 (fb)) - Hank McCoy was a
scientist investigating the source of super-powers, but an experiment
mutated him permanently into the furry Beast, amplifying his limb
strength and
acrobatic abilities.
(Spidey Super Stories#43/3) - Beast joined the
heroic Avengers alongside Captain America, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Scarlet
Witch
and the android Vision.
(Spidey Super Stories#57/5) - Attending an art show
organized by J. Jonah Jameson, Mary Jane Watson and Peter Parker saw
Beast beset by female fans, but Parker wasn't as impressed as Watson.
However, Jameson's art show had been secretly robbed by the bouncing
Leap Frog. Aghast, Jameson initially blamed Spider-Man, but Beast
overheard and leapt into action, tracking the thief. Parker changed
into Spider-Man and met up with Beast, who found giant webbed tracks.
Following the mud prints, they found Leap Frog's lair and stolen art
stash. Leap Frog attacked, knocking the heroes over. Spider-Man and
Beast recovered and stopped the criminal escaping. Spider-Man snapped
photos and left to develop the photos, asking Beast to take Leap Frog
to the police and return the art. Soon after, Parker showed off his
photos of Spider-Man with Beast to Jameson and Watson.
Comments: Created by Jim Salicrup &/or Alan Kupperberg (writer), Win Mortimer (pencils), Ricardo Villamonter (inks).
Beast is not identified as a mutant who's "born" with powers, only that an experiment caused his powers.
Physical stats are higher than his Earth-616
counterpart,
as he looks taller.
Profile by Grendel Prime.
