History:
(X-Men Adventures II#6 (fb)) - As part of a
ten-yearly ceremony, representatives of the Assassins Guild and the
Thieves Guild each gave a boxed tithe to an External that emerged from
the water. She bestowed upon Beau, the one chosen from the Assassins
Guild this time, enhanced strength and protection from mortal men. Beau
watched as his counterpart from the Thieves Guild failed to deliver his
tithe and was obliterated by the External; she threatened further death
for the forfeiting Guild next time. The External selected Bella Donna
as the Assassins Guild's next representative and Gambit's brother,
Bobby LeBeau, for the Thieves Guild.
(X-Men Adventures II#6) - Ten years later, the
tithing ceremony was due again and Bella Donna had Bobby kidnapped and
the Thieves Guild tithe box compromised to lure her estranged love,
Gambit, to Louisiana. Soon after, Beau stood armed by Bella Donna's
side as the External rose from the water again, but Jean Grey
telepathically revealed Bella Donna's chicanery to the External and the
chosen Assassin was denied enhanced power.
(The Adventures of the X-Men#8 (fb) - BTS) - Bella
Donna schemed to get the Thieves Guild's immortality elixir vials and
romanced Bobby LeBeau to find their location. However, she intended to
have Beau kill him once the vials were acquired.
(The Adventures of the X-Men#8) - Gambit confronted
his brother regarding marriage to Bella Donna as Beau stood by Bobby's
side in the Assassins Guild stronghold, but then stormed out. Bobby
followed his brother to acquiesce, only to be murdered by Beau's thrown
knife from the shadows. Enraged, Gambit gave rapid chase through
alleyways and challenged Beau. Although the assassin used his bladed
staff, Gambit knocked him out, tied him up and left him suspended from
a tree over swamp water in range of hungry alligators. Initially
stubborn, Gambit flicked razor-edged cards into the rope, threatening
Beau's fall, and the assassin quickly revealed Bella Donna's plan. Beau
showed no remorse, stating it was just business, so Gambit left him
tied in the weakened rope above the alligators.
Comments: Created by Ralph Macchio (writer), John Hebert (pencils) and Greg Adams (inks).
Odd to have the enemy of the LeBeau brothers named Beau.
The unnamed External who emerged from the water every
10 years is non-Caucasian and black haired. Her likely Earth-616
counterpart is the tithe-collecting Guild benefactor Candra.
