History:
(My Love#10/1 (fb) - BTS) - Beverly Dayton was dating Nick Howard, but she eventually found him quite bossy.
(My Love#10/1) - One evening, Howard ordered a
restaurant dish she wouldn't normally order, then took her to a boxing
match that only he wanted to see. She found that she did enjoy herself
after all. The next day, her friend Holly invited her to a "Female
Freedom" rally where equal gender rights were advocated, and decided
she wanted to be treated equally on dates too. She put Howard on hold
for a couple of weeks while she dated gentler guys who valued her
opinions, asking what she wanted to eat and where to go, but she was
indecisive and the evenings withered. At another women's lib meeting,
she came to the conclusion that female freedom was more about job
quality and less about romance(!). She called Howard, who rushed over
and declared his primitive love for her. She was thrilled.
Comments: Created by Stan Lee (writer), John Buscema (pencils) and John Verpooten (inks).
Howard and Dayton seem like good candidates to become HYDRA operatives.
This story was later reprinted in My Love#25, where
she became a redhead on the cover only.
Profile by Grendel Prime.
CLARIFICATIONS
:
Beverly Dayton has no known connections to:
Nick Howard was Beverly Dayton's regular boyfriend.
He socially domineered her, selecting her food at restaurants and deciding
evening entertainment according to what he preferred, like prize
fights. He claimed to have dated many women and liked them weak willed.
Eventually finding him too bossy, Dayton put him off for a couple of
weeks while she dated gentler guys, but found that she still wanted his
dominating personality. She called Howard up and, being in love with her,
he rushed over and declared them an enduring "Tarzan and Jane" type of
couple.
