DRAMMOTH
(Kimodus burdonus)
Classification: Reptilian quadruped extraterrestrial race (Sakaar wildlife)
Location/Base of Operations: Planet Sakaar, fourth planet from
the star Tayo (a grouping of eight major heavenly bodies that comprise the star
system Tayo) in the Fornax galaxy;
specifically the Mawkaw and Maga mountain ranges
Known Members: Unrevealed
Affiliations: Domesticated and used as beasts of burden and/or transport by Sakaarian Imperials and Sakaarian Natives
Enemies:Unrevealed
First Appearance: Incredible Hulk III#92 (April, 2006);
(identified)
Planet Hulk: Gladiator Guidebook (2006)
Powers/Abilities: Massive reptilian quadrupeds (the largest known lizard species native to Sakaar), the Drammoths are specially adapted for life at high civilization (presumably including tolerance for cold, lower air pressure, and thinner air). They possess a lung capacity several times larger than that of other reptilian species, and their scaly hide is thick enough to protect them from the frigid temperatures of Sakaar's mountain tops.
Female Drammoths lay about six eggs per year, and the young are quickly assimilated into the herd upon hatching.
Traits: Drammoths are often used as slaves for transport.
In the wild, Drammoths live in mixed herds of 35-40 and feed on eggs, small mammals, and carrion.
Sakaarian natives ("bugs") use Drammoths as beast of burden to plow their fields.
Sakaarian Imperials have taken advantage of the Drammoths affinity for high elevations, breeding them for traction and using them as massive, lumbering slave transports. Drammoths are often used to transport gladiators to and from the Maw.
Type: Bilaterally symmetric reptilian quadruped
Eyes: Two (on head; color uncertain; possibly gray)
Digits: Apparently four per limb
Skin color: Gray
Average height: Approximately 12 to 18' at the shoulder/withers;
Approximately 40' to 50' in length
History:
(Planet Hulk: Gladiator Guidebook: Sakaar: Wildlife: Drammoth) - The Drammoths are native to Sakaar.
(Planet Hulk: Gladiator Guidebook: Sakaar: Wildlife: Drammoth) - At some undetailed point in the past, Sakaarian Natives and Imperials domesticated the Drammoths.
(Planet Hulk: Gladiator Guidebook: Sakaar: Wildlife: Drammoth) - By recent years, domesticated Drammoths far outnumbered their wild brethren.
(Incredible Hulk III#92) - Within a Drammoth transport, the Hulk, Miek, and several other Sakaarian Natives were transported to the Maw.
Comments: Created by Greg Pak, Carlo Pagulayan, and Jeffrey Huet.
We may assume the Drammoths to be native to Sakaar, but they could have easily arrived via the Great Portal.
I'll keep my eyes out for more Drammoth appearances as I work my way through profiling all things Sakaar over the next few years or more, but please feel free to let me know of other appearances so I can add them soon rather than later, or in case I miss them.
