History: (X-Men Millennial Visions -
"X-Sentinels" (fb) - BTS) - Over time, battle took its toll on the
X-Men's bodies but their need to fight the good fight forced the team
to rebuilt their physical bodies mechanically. Starting with a
mechanical arm or leg, eventually the X-Men's entire bodies were
replaced as the team's members aged to the point that they were not
suited for battle. Their consciousnesses downloaded into cybernetic
bodies, the X-Men lived on in forms meant to resemble their original
physical bodies.
(X-Men Millennial Visions - "X-Sentinels") - As more
and more information was uploaded into their cybernetic brains, the
X-Men's mental faculties began to break down, leaving only the purpose
to save mutantkind in their minds. Becoming the X-Sentinels, the X-Men
soon began a terrorist crusade on humankind, hunting humans and leaving
only mutants safe.

None of the X-Sentinels were identified by name but
there were counterparts for (clockwise from top): Rogue, Sunfire,
Magneto, Wolverine, Gambit, Psylocke and Cyclops.
