XAVIER INSTITUTE
(of Earth-1012)
Classification: Terrestrial school
Creator: Presumably Professor X
User/Possessors: The X-Men (Beast, Cyclops, Iceman, Nightcrawler)
First Appearance: X-Men Millennial Visions (August, 2000)
Powers/Abilities/Functions: The Xavier
Institute served as an educational facility for young mutants. It also
served as a home for the X-Men. It was unrevealed if the Xavier
Institute possessed any of the advanced technology that its Earth-616
counterpart had.
History:
(X-Men Millennial Visions - "Back to School" (fb) - BTS) - Circa 2028,
after some time fighting the likes of Apocalypse and Magneto, and
rescuing the Shi'ar Galaxy, the X-Men opened the Xavier Institute to
the public as part of the Equal Schools Act and was forced to serve its
locational district due to overcrowding. With the boom in population
came a boom in mutant children being born and soon, every child
developed a mutation. Using Bastion's sealed findings, the government
visited the Xavier Institute and sought their help in training its
teachers to cope with the rising mutant population in schools. Despite
being retired, the X-Men agreed, deciding that they could help the
world more as teachers than fighting supervillains.
(X-Men Millennial Visions - "Back to School") -
Opening their doors to an observational session called the Unity
Conference, the X-Men attempted to train others to teach a new breed of
mutant children but the Unity Conference proved a horrible failure, as
the X-Men failed to prove their authority against the modern
thirteen-year-old mutant child. Following student pranks such as
Cyclops' visor being stolen, children taking Professor X's wheelchair
out for a joyride, Iceman being partially melted, Nightcrawler's walker
being kicked out from under him and Beast loosing his dentures trying
to fend off mutant children, the elderly X-Men that managed to survive
being teachers left the Xavier Institute in favor of finding new
villains to fight or anything better than trying to teach high
schoolers.
