History: (X-Men Millennial Visions - "Apocalypse Redux" (fb) - BTS) - Following media hype and predictions, the world came to end when a giant comet neared Earth, causing asteroids to hit the oceans and creating tidal waves. As the comet grew closer, the Earth experienced nuclear heat, unbreathable air, years without daylight and continent-covering duststorms. Eventually, the world was destroyed, leaving only good and evil behind. Over numerous decades of nuclear winters, the Earth eventually began to experience sunlight again, creating a new age similar to Earth's prehistoric era. Left behind from before the world's end, the computer Cerebro remained online and detected great evil. In response, it gathered together mutants from the new world and taught them the ways of the old X-Men.

(X-Men Millennial Visions - "Apocalypse Redux") - Having been taught Xavier's dream, the new X-Men fought against the evil that sprouted up worldwide and waited for the war Cerebro predicted, unaware that Apocalypse had also been reborn.
